What position do you hold at KCIP? What has been your career path so far?

Lisette: At KCIP, I am a teacher assistant for toddlers. I studied for a primary school teacher in Holland. I was teaching there for 8 years. I also studied special behavior needs. I worked for three years as a specialist in behavior.

What do you most enjoy about your role?

Lisette: I enjoy working with the toddlers, an age where children explore a lot. They start learning, talking, etc.

What do you find most rewarding about working at KCIP?

Lisette: The smile on the face of the children. The changes you see in children and how they grow!

What do you think a volunteer would gain from working at KCIP?

Lisette: It’s a nice place to work. It seems like a different world in Kampala. A volunteer can enjoy this experience, working with the young children and learn from the teachers and director. For the teachers, it is nice to work with volunteers because you have extra help, new ideas and you can share experiences.

What tips would you share with someone considering this program?

Lisette: Tips about work but also lifestyle and culture.
