Why choose ARCAmazon?

The Alliance for Research and Conservation in the Amazon is a collaboration of conservationists and scientists in the Peruvian Amazon, working out of our 4,500 hectare concession called the Las Piedras Amazon Center (LPAC). We aim to bring people into the rainforest and share the rainforest in the world in order to promote sustainable use of the Amazon Rainforest's resources. Since purchasing the concession in 2014, we and our collaborators on the Las Piedras River have been the front line of rainforest conservation as human incursions from mining, timber and agriculture grow in the area. We accomplish our goals through the work of resident scientists at LPAC and the volunteers that contribute to their efforts. We engage volunteers from around the world in research on primatology, herpetology, mycology, agroforestry, and in our forest ranger and wildlife monitoring initiatives. Our volunteers live at our camp deep in the Amazon and witness the immense beauty the jungle has to offer.
