One of the best experiences of my life

I already had a lot of experience in TV when I went to Florence but making films was the next step for me. Going to NYFA was one of the best decisions of my life - the educational is very practical and hands on, the tutors are very qualified and helpful, I made friends for life here and I would totally recommend the experience to everyone. I definitely feel more confident in trying to put my ideas on the screen then before and it's all thanks to these amazing people.

What would you improve about this program?
Students be allowed the freedom to shoot off-campus, so that their projects can be more creative, and not limited to the campus grounds.
A bit more time with camera equipment would also be helpful, and more options on editing programs.

Job Title
Senior Acting Tutor: Gold Coast

What is your favorite travel memory?

I love the Greek islands, but I guess my favorite travel memory is the first time I visited Australia.

The vastness of this golden, multi-colored land with blue, blue ocean and palm trees was my idea of paradise. I particularly remember a wonderful sunset at Uluru where, as the sun went down, the rock changed color from light brown to red (yes, red) to purple and then became shadow.

A fabulous experience. And then, of course, the waterfalls of Kakadu...

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Working for any organization involves collaboration and synthesis in the work you do. In my case, it's been about the joy and sense of achievement I feel as I watch students grow!

By which I mean grow their talent. Teaching numerous intakes of students means that my own approach to the teaching of acting changes; I now have a clearer understanding of where we begin and how we develop and have been able to develop much more precision in which exercises promote growth and insight into the acting process and how to individualize learning experiences.

It's about allowing you to be UNIQUELY YOU!

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Well, ok, I'm biased as to which NYFA program I would choose. I would choose the Acting For Film Program. It is tempting to think of 'acting' as something you 'add on' to yourself.

Actually, it's about 'stripping away' or discarding what you don't need and being yourself. Truly being yourself. This is your unique talent. A talent no-one else has.

It's what Tom McSweeney calls your unique 'spice'. This is what makes you employable. This is what gets you the job. This is what we develop at NYFA Gold Coast.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

What makes NYFA unique is a combination of 'spices' mentioned above.

We add a large measure of full-on course content so that you learn at an accelerated rate! We also add a pretty large measure of Tutor passion and enthusiasm which you'll find is infectious.

We certainly add a measure of listening carefully to your thoughts and desires to create a unified student experience. All that remains now is that you join us!

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

In the business world, successful business is about matching a good product with what the consumer needs. But GREAT business is about REALLY listening to your clients and EXCEEDING their expectations. This is exactly what we do at NYFA.

We want you to have a GREAT time so we take time to talk with you and see what you need. Then we show you how we can give you what you need. This two-way dialogue leads to you doing a great course and having a great training.
