Acting for Film is an Excellent Experience

Really loved every minute of the Prague Film School "Acting for Film" class - the instructors were first class and outstanding and what we learned was way beyond my expectations! I am a mature student so I was worried about fitting in. However, from day one, the school and staff were incredibly welcoming and warm hearted. The class were also amazing, talented and open. The location, buildings, workshop spaces were perfect and ideal for the class. The professionalism and passion for the craft of acting could be felt in all aspects of this course. I would highly recommend the course but be prepared to stretch yourself and put in the time and effort. You'll be glad you did.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Doing a live theatre showcase in front of 25 Film Directors (after two weeks) - but it all worked out very well in the end. It's always good to discover new things about yourself and be open to where it takes you.
Pros
  • Instructors
  • Location

Experience at PFS

I did a one month filmmaking program in June’24 and i must admit it was the best one month of my life.
I had my doubts regarding what can be achieved in just month and what happened was way beyond my expectations.
From the amazing faculty, warm administrators, extremely well structured program with an ideal mix of classroom and practical aspects, it was a highly enriching course and it made me fall in love with filmmaking. I am really proud of the 2 short films I made there and feel very lucky and grateful for the whole experience.

The Best of Hands-On Approach

I graduated a one year program at Prague Film School and I would definitely recommend it to every young filmmaker, arts enthusiast or simply anyone who wants to learn something new!

The program offers lots, LOTS of practical exercises. Studies basically consist of students making their own little ( and not so little ) films, almost every week.

School also offer lots of electives to choose from, so if you already have a specialization you’d like to focus on ( such as sound or cinematography), you can easily dive into that!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be brave and don’t hesistate to take risks! Explore Prague, don’t limit yourself to the city center — there is so much to see :)
Pros
  • Hands-On Approach
  • Welcoming Staff
  • Networking Opportunities
Cons
  • Busy Schedule ( could also be a pro :)

An adventure programme for learning Film Making.

Prague Film School is an excellent place to study film, offering a hands-on learning experience from professors who are not only experienced but also actively working in the field. Their real-world expertise makes the classes engaging and insightful.
The school provides access to top-notch equipment and emphasizes the importance of respecting it. Students benefit from well-equipped studios for classes and shoots, and they have access to numerous shooting locations throughout Prague.
Although I encountered some difficulties with obtaining a visa for the Czech Republic, Prague Film School supported me throughout the process. Despite arriving a month late due to visa issues, the school arranged extra lectures to help me catch up with my peers.
Overall, I highly recommend Prague Film School for anyone interested in film studies in Prague.

Practical, Creative, and Welcoming

I had a fantastic experience studying at Prague Film School! The course was incredibly practical, giving us lots of freedom to express ourselves and refine our skills. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. PFS quickly became a significant part of my lifestyle. I spent a lot of time there, and even when away, I was preparing for projects with my group. This close-knit environment fostered a true sense of community and helped me connect with others who share my passion for filmmaking.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Prague Film School gives you a lot of freedom, so it's really up to you what you make of it. You can take it easy and not get too involved, but if you attend classes, participate actively, seek consultations with teachers, and put in the work, PFS offers plenty of resources to help you learn and create high-quality projects. It all depends on your level of commitment. My advice is to make the most of the resources available, get to know the people around you, and build connections during your time there.
Pros
  • Practical approach
  • Sense ommunity
  • International groups
Cons
  • Not much free time while you are studying (but that can also be a good thing, since you are spending a lot of time learning)
