Study at Prague Film School

I did a one month filmmaking program in June’24 and i must admit it was the best one month of my life.
I had my doubts regarding what can be achieved in just month and what happened was way beyond my expectations.
From the amazing faculty, warm administrators, extremely well structured program with an ideal mix of classroom and practical aspects, it was a highly enriching course and it made me fall in love with filmmaking. I am really proud of the 2 short films I made there and feel very lucky and grateful for the whole experience.

I graduated a one year program at Prague Film School and I would definitely recommend it to every young filmmaker, arts enthusiast or simply anyone who wants to learn something new!

The program offers lots, LOTS of practical exercises. Studies basically consist of students making their own little ( and not so little ) films, almost every week.

School also offer lots of electives to choose from, so if you already have a specialization you’d like to focus on ( such as sound or cinematography), you can easily dive into that!

Prague Film School is an excellent place to study film, offering a hands-on learning experience from professors who are not only experienced but also actively working in the field. Their real-world expertise makes the classes engaging and insightful.
The school provides access to top-notch equipment and emphasizes the importance of respecting it. Students benefit from well-equipped studios for classes and shoots, and they have access to numerous shooting locations throughout Prague.
Although I encountered some difficulties with obtaining a visa for the Czech Republic, Prague Film School supported me throughout the process. Despite arriving a month late due to visa issues, the school arranged extra lectures to help me catch up with my peers.
Overall, I highly recommend Prague Film School for anyone interested in film studies in Prague.

I had a fantastic experience studying at Prague Film School! The course was incredibly practical, giving us lots of freedom to express ourselves and refine our skills. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. PFS quickly became a significant part of my lifestyle. I spent a lot of time there, and even when away, I was preparing for projects with my group. This close-knit environment fostered a true sense of community and helped me connect with others who share my passion for filmmaking.

Prague Film School is not just a school; it's a place where I found new friends and colleagues. In this new era of YouTube, we can find all the information we need on the internet, but if we want to create a movie, we need strong and effective communication. Prague Film School (PFS) absolutely provides that.

Beyond the knowledge you gain, PFS offers something more: a new film family that will support you in your future projects. With my new friends from PFS, we created two short documentary films, and these films now have a fantastic festival journey. Apologies for the long prelude...Here are some key points you should know about the school:

1) I had an amazing teacher in the documentary class who provided a powerful foundation for creating authentic documentary stories.
2) The school has good equipment for your basic projects.
3) If you want to transition into the film industry, I think PFS is the best place to start learning about this completely new world. Here, you will find all the answers about what film is and how it works.

It’s hard to describe the experience I had at Prague Film School. I can’t imagine exploring the art of filmmaking with any other group of creatives. Thank you PFS for building such a supportive dedicated staff who were excited to teach their students (beginners and experts) every day. Thank you for helping us find success. And thank you PFS for fostering such a welcoming community of artists who were so eager to learn and create together. I am beyond grateful for my time at PFS and couldn’t imagine studying anywhere else. Come for the education and the opportunity, stay for the people.

When one of favourite filmmakers, Agneska Holland, said that film schools should be open to mature students as well as young ones, she could have been talking about me. After years of telling myself not to, I finally applied to film school late in life. I had been following PFS for several years and this was my only application. I did not really expect to be admitted; I was surprised when I was. Such a big change at this stage of my life was a risk, but I decided to take it. That was three years ago and I have never regretted it.

AT PFS I was thrilled to be part of a vibrant group of writers, directors, cinematographers and actors all of whom were passionate about the same thing as me: cinema. These were two extremely busy years, full of creative projects, collaboration, writing, thought provoking academic conversations and lectures, and the technical aspects of filmmaking. We were introduced to - and expected to work on - the entire spectrum of filmmaking - script writing to editing and post production, including sound and sound design. We also acted in student projects. We were challenged to direct both our scripts and those written by others. And of course, we watched, analysed and dissected dozens of films offered in our classes, learning from both the great ones and the bad. As someone who had longed for such a long time to go to film school, I was not sure what to expect, but I got more than I imagined.

PFS benefits from having an international body of teachers and students. As students, w benefit considerably from this diversity and range of perspectives. Prague is a stunning capital, full of cinematic Czech cityscapes that are amenable to a variety of film genres. Because the Czech language is difficult for students, PFS has programme staff available to help students negotiate filming permissions with local authorities, should they be necessary. They are also have a helpful student advisory service to guide students, some of whom come from far. And PFS offers guidance to the lucky graduates who make competitive films, ready for the competitive and often quite complex festival circuit.

The package offered by Prague Film School produces competitive graduates for the film industry. I can recommended it thoroughly.

I studied two years in Prague Film School. I didn't have any prior experience in filmmaking and I can say I learned a lot. Prague Film School has a very practical nature. Almost every week or two, students are assigned with either projects or workshops. Each of these assignments gets you more and more familiar with all the aspects of filmmaking, enabling you to utilise what you learned in a rich variety of classes. Both teachers and staff are very helpful and they want to get the best out of you. Obviously what you take out of this program is going to vary according to the amount of dedication you have. But if you are dedicated, Prague Film School provides you a wide range of equipments, knowledge both theoretical and practical and honest feedbacks for you to elevate your skills and the quality of your personal projects.
Besides the school, the city itself is also beautiful, inspiring and quite fun. I had a great time and made lots of friends. Would recommend it to anyone.
