Diversity & Inclusion 💙

Salisa Language School accepts TEFL trainees and students from any country or region in the world. The main criteria for anyone participating in our course is that the English language is spoken and understood very well. Separately a rule promoted by the authorities in Thailand is that graduated TEFL teachers seeking work there hold a Bachelor-Degree in any field. If TEFL graduate is a non-native English speaker (NNES) they must pass a TOEIC test before being accepted into a position as a TEFL teacher at a Thai school. TEFL graduates from NES countries (Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland) are highly sought after and no TOEIC test is required. The Bachelor-Degree, supported by TEFL graduation will, in the main, assist POC and NNES in obtaining TEFL teaching positions in Thailand.
All participants of the Salisa Language School are treated equally.
Salisa Language School will do its best to support all applicants to the best of its abilities. We work individually with those considering a TEFL course to determine if it is a good fit for them.

Impact 🌎

Salisa Language School (SLS) provides developmental opportunities for trainees to engage in a new career, find employment, often in a country other than their own and improve lives of others through teaching, in the main, the English language.
SLS promotes known employment opportunities to graduates aimed at improving their lives including others in remote poorer communities particularly in Thailand & Cambodia.
Management of SLS has engaged in direct investments into sustainable well-being of institutions supporting "children in need" in homes across Thailand.
Salisa Language School provides a TEFL program which will enable graduates to then participate in living and working in Thailand. We support and encourage participants to consider the core concepts of respect, freedom, loyalty, merit, pride, compassion, harmony and sanuk in Thai culture which are engaged in the "land of smiles'.

GREAT SCHOOL WITH GREAT STAFF

I took a TEFL course at SLS in August of 2024 and had a great experience. I had already earned my TEFL certification back in 2019 but hadn’t actually taught so I figured that I would take a refresher course at SLS and I am happy that I did because I learned a lot.

The staff has been beyond helpful from start to finish, the course contained very useful information that will help me in my career and the portion of the course where we teach at a local school provided me with invaluable experience.

I couldn’t be happier with attending SLS and highly recommend this school to everyone!

An American in Thailand

I’m an American currently living in Thailand. I took the course in November of 2023. I found it to be very intense but also very rewarding at the end. The instructor was knowledgeable given his rich experience in the field. There was also practical experience provided in an actual classroom setting with 30 kids! That was very helpful and encouraging for me that I could actually do this. I’m happy that I chose the Salisa Language Center for my TEFL education. I feel like I received a lot of value for my money.

Must do for those who want to teach English

I did the TEFL course in September 2023. It was quite intense, a lot of useful information. The trainer Cillian is the best person for this role who could not only follow the syllabus but also add lots of constructive criticism and shared his rich experience. Especially when we talked about bad behavior of the students he could show a lot of examples from his practice and it was priceless. I was slightly confused why we had school practice very soon after the course started, but later I understood that it was good not only to learn everything and then practice, but also reflect on our practice later, when we had something specific to illustrate and to discuss during the following lessons.
I wish I had done this course before I actually had my first school job (7 years ago), it would have helped me a lot.
What surprised me most was that tests were open questioned. I was expecting multiple choice but I had to write all that I have in my head. I think it’s quite fair and need to stay like this to keep the level of the teachers high.
Thank you all the team for your welcoming and warm attitude to every student and readiness to help at any part of the day!

Pros
  • Structured
  • Friendly
  • Professional
Cons
  • Duration (wish it would be longer)
  • More different groups to practice on
  • More methodologies to teach the language

TEFL course

I am a former secondary teacher but had not taught English before and I wanted to learn to teach English. It was a good course with a nice balance of class time and practicum. I was especially pleased to be able to practice teach in an actual school environment with the actual time constraints of a normal educational environment. The teacher was knowledgeable and the school anticipated and provided everything I needed to be successful. The methodology that I learned was easy to use in many situations.

What is your favorite travel memory?

My favourite travel memory was going to Koh Samet. It’s a beautiful and relaxing island with many pristine beaches and warm, friendly people who made the visit even more enjoyable. I loved exploring different parts of the island, each beach having its own unique charm. The food was fantastic — fresh seafood and local dishes that were full of flavor.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

The best story I have heard from a student was about a girl who worked very hard to pass an entry exam for an international school. She dedicated a lot of focused time to studying and improving her skills with our help. Thanks to her determination and the support she received, she was able to pass the test successfully and get accepted. Hearing about her achievement was really rewarding and showed me how much of a difference our teaching can make.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?
