TEFL 120 hour course review

Having just completed this course it has fully set me up for my new journey as an EFL teacher, it has all the knowledge and guidance you will need, and full support throughout. I couldn’t recommend this course enough. The course shows a general scope of cultural norms worldwide, and talks about what is socially acceptable in different countries, so wherever your EFL teaching may land you this course is perfectly shaped for everyone’s needs. It was very engaging and never overbearing, with lots of assessments and quizzes throughout, it’s the perfect learning guide!

A Well-Structured and Insightful TEFL Course

This course was well organized and well presented. It felt more like reading a guide than a textbook, which made the material more intuitive. Hearing James' personal anecdotes was a nice addition to the course. The assessments at the end of each section covered the material well and facilitated my understanding. The material also makes a valuable reference for teaching, as it has guides for teaching different class sizes and age groups. Overall, this course provided me with a comprehensive and practical foundation in TEFL.

120 Hour Advanced TEFL Course

This course was absolutely amazing! It provided the perfect balance of flexibility and structure, allowing me to complete it while managing other commitments like school, work, and hobbies. The ability to learn at my own pace was incredibly valuable, making the experience stress-free and enjoyable.

Beyond just the convenience, the course encouraged deep reflection on aspects of teaching that I hadn’t initially considered important. It broadened my perspective, reinforced key teaching concepts, and gave me practical strategies that I can apply in real-life classroom situations.

Now, I feel truly prepared and confident to step into a teaching role. I have gained not only knowledge but also the skills and mindset needed to be an effective educator. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to develop their teaching abilities in a flexible and supportive learning environment!

Nomad TEFL Course - Good but could be improved

Overall the course was well put together and easy to navigate. It contained useful and appropriate information which was easily digestible with recommendations of how to approach the the subject.

Though saying the above, the questions had too many double negatives and some were worded a bit strangely. In addition it needed more examples in many sections as some grammar or teaching had only a few examples.

I would recommend this course for anyone who wants to obtain a TEFL qualification in order to teach abroad as it was extremely useful.

Super

The online TEFL course was well-structured and engaging, covering essential topics like grammar, lesson planning, and classroom management. The interactive modules made learning dynamic, and the flexibility allowed for self-paced study. The course provided practical strategies and useful resources to build confidence in teaching English. While some sections could be more detailed, it offered a solid foundation for aspiring TEFL teachers. A great choice for those starting their TEFL journey! I would recommend!

William Davies

Job Title
Travel Writer & Administrator
After graduating without a clear career path, Will took the opportunity to not only travel - but to live and work - overseas to gain perspective. Blissful and eye-opening experiences as an English teacher in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Romania mean that Will now helps aspiring teachers find similar opportunities through programme coordinating and travel writing.

What is your favorite travel memory?

Although I love the freedom of being a digital nomad, I miss walking into the classroom to be greeted by celebration and cheers from my primary students in Vietnam. One student even wrote my name on the back of his Real Madrid jersey - as if I was a famous athlete - which was incredibly endearing and exemplifies the influence and ESL teachers can have on students.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I've learned to be more open minded, understanding, and empathetic of applicants and people in general. After having done TEFL, I've adopted a mindset that everyone should do the same. However, people come from all walks of life and have their own obstacles, concerns, and apprehensions about leaving home and venturing overseas. Additionally, I've adopted many positive traits from many of the applicants who exhibit a healthy outlook not only on travel but on life in general!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

An applicant who went out to teach in Thailand now dedicates her time towards caring for the stray dogs in her local area. Not only has she immersed herself in the community as an English teacher, but she also gives back to the community through caring for dogs who need treatment, sustenance, and other forms of attention. It's amazing to see how applicants can not only establish a second-home abroad but become active participants and provide for the community!

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Although I am already TEFL certified, becoming certified with TEFL Nomad would have provided me with more perspective and insight into teaching English as a foreign teacher. These course modules would have been more fitting as I was unaware of the extent of not only the language barriers but also how cultural differences affect language acquisition in the ESL classroom.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Many TEFL companies lack expertise and insight from former teachers when it actually comes to TEFL. TEFL Nomad lives up to its motto of "for teachers, by teachers," which helps us understand the questions and obstacles that aspiring ESL teachers face. As a company which is entirely made up of ESL teachers in the team, we can put ourselves in our applicants' shoes.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Personalised support, frequent communication, and transparency. It's important to get to know the person who is providing services for you to assess the values and characteristics of those who you're dealing with. Personalised support in the form of direct communication can provide plenty of assurance and trust between the applicant and the company.
