The majority of schools around the world do not pay for your housing, they pay you a wage or salary and you pay for your apartment just like what you are doing now. A few wealthier nations will pay as a way to get you started with lower first month expenses but at the end of the day you get paid the same amount taking the housing or not. Jobs are jobs, they are not Peace Corp assignments living in a tiny village. Think about your grade school teacher making his/her salary.
