How difficult is it to find a job in a private school (Eikaiwas)?

It is very easy finding a Job in Eikaiwas. Just check Gaijinpot.com for job openings. They usually posts openings not only for eikaiwas but also for other English teaching job openings as well.

I don’t think that the course was very difficult at all. However, there were some who had difficulties understanding certain parts. We happened to be a group that got along very well and as such, we tutored each other and passed the final test. The portion covering the International Phonetic Alphabet requires a lot of memorization and students were required to translate words from English to the IPA and vice versa. It can be difficult to memorize all of these symbols and the corresponding sounds. Making a lesson plan was the portion I found to be the most difficult, as it required meticulous attention to detail.

I would say it's medium difficulty, but again, depends on your connections. You need a solid referral the more exclusive the job is. I would suggest teaching business English at a regular company. There are TONS of them who recruit English teachers like they're harvesting crops. Then after a year of experience there, you'll have a great recommendation opportunity into a private school. It's all heavy networking.

I have never worked in a private school (Eikaiwa), but I think I would be optimistic if looking to work here because of the ever-increasing growth in the English industry. I would use gaijinpot.com to search for work, and I would also try contacting big eikaiwa firms like Berlitz teach.berlitz.co.jp , COCO Juku www.cocojuku.jp , AEON www.aeonet.com, Gaba teaching-in-japan.gaba.co.jp, and ECC recruiting.ecc.co.jp. If this doesn't work, I would try seeking out smaller companies, like A to Z-ed in Matsumoto, Nagano http://www.atoz-ed.com/welcome/. There are many options. It just takes a little bit of digging! Best of luck!
