Finally in Sadhana Forest!

After one year since I started my project researching Utopian Community and “Humanity”, and marching for Peace and the Planet, I finally arrived in Sadhana Forest in Auroville.

It has been so precious to live in the forest, volunteer for it, and eat non-processed vegan food and meet so many amazing people along the way. I loved every moment despite the hot season. So precious to volunteer for reforestation in a compassionate and kind environment that matches all of my core values.

A place you definitely should not miss!

Pros
  • Experience to leave more in balance with Nature, with your self, animal and other humankind.
  • Eat healthy , non-processed vegan food
  • Meet amazing people - enjoy life

Sadhana Forest

Sadhana Forest and the team has been an inspiration. I have volunteered in several communities and Sadhana Forest has been one of my best experiences. The volunteers and staff are from all over the world. Some are planning on staying 10 days but end up staying much longer. The work that is done here is so important. I have learned and liked eating vegan and not having any processed foods. When I was here there were a few families playing and even helping out when they could. Everyone tried to include the children in our task or read and played with them. Sadhana Forest is also close to the community of Auroville.
Please come and experience Sadhana Forest first hand.

Pros
  • Everyone welcome
  • Great cause

Me & my daughter at Sadhana Forest

Grazie!!! Torneremo presto

English:
am a mother who has chosen the path of natural learning for my daughter (and for myself too!). We came to Sadhana Forest moved by the stories of other families who have made the same choice as me and by their enthusiasm for this topic. Now that we are here I have found much more than that. In addition to a very favorable environment for the growth of children (and adults), I was very impressed by the care of each and every one in all the activities. The forest is a great example of this. I also really appreciate the social structure of the community that allows you to welcome a huge amount of volunteers, making them feel and become part of the community in a very short time and it's also super efficient with respect to the activities to be carried out. The evening activities are very interesting and include all ages. Yànsà is super enthusiastic and immediately felt at home. The return to nature had an impact for us (we already lived for a few years in a place where we often slept outdoors and stayed in the woods). Returning to this dimension has done us a lot of good. For those who are not used to it, perhaps it could take some time to adjust but then feeling the effect of finding one's place as human beings in nature is inevitable. Very grateful to life for accompanying us to this place. Sadhana forest guys you are doing an amazing job and even more amazing that this project is replicable and you are bringing food and life to other countries. Thank you!!! We will be back soon.

Pros
  • Back to nature
  • Natural schooling
  • Healthy life
Cons
  • Challenge with new lifestyle

Sustainable living

Learn about forest regeneration and sustainable living - experience living in a community, conserving water, eating vegan organic food, nurturing cows, practising Zerowaste, using compost toilets, getting hands on experience in planting/ mulshing/ digging, and even cooking and cleaning together!

Day starts at 6am, volunteer till 12.30pm with one hour breakfast break. All three meals are served on most days except no dinner on Thursday, and no lunch on Sat & Sun. Weekends, usually there is no seva (volunteer work)

You live in a dorm if you are a short term volunteer. Each day is a different experience - sharing circle, core value talk, non talent show, moon circle, acrobats, meditation and so on!

Unbelievable project

The work being carried out by Sadhana Forest Kenya is truly amazing. Planting indigenous food trees together with people around their homes, such an ingenious idea! It's a silver bullet that solves issues of climate change, desertification, poverty and food insecurity all at the same time!
Sadhana Forest Kenya is very welcoming. The staff is great and the local people are wonderful. You can really feel like you are making a difference here, going out to plant and take care of trees that will support these people for the rest of their lives.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Sadhana Forest Kenya is off the beaten track. Ideal for people who like quiet environments that are not too crowded!

Extraordinary place!

The work being done by Sadhana Forest Haiti is really extraordinary. They are in a remote place where there is a lot of poverty and malnutrition and few other NGOs present. Yet, they are managing to make a very concrete long term lasting impact on the lives of many people there.
The project is very accessible and it is easy to join as a volunteer. They have a holistic broader vision of community, sustainable living, veganism, zero waste and so on. They are doing more than just planting trees here, they are experimenting to see how to can live in the most compassionate way, and with simple but effective means, have the highest possible impact on peoples' lives!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
This is really a great place if you want to go off grid and have a different experience and explore alternative ways of living and contributing to the world.

Love and Life

It's a awesome vegan community, there is not just a sense of doing good by planting trees but a sense of togetherness and of community.

The food is Vegan the lifestyle is simple and lovely.

The 2 sevas a day along with the community sevas help the functioning of the community. Seva a selfless act in essence is the spirit of the community. We all pitch in to help the community run smoothly.

If it is serving lunch or being a runner to bring plates to everyone before meals the community sevas show the togetherness of all.

The water conservation techniques used are beautiful and the forest itself is filled with trees and life.

Volunteering at Sadhana Forest has enriched me as a human being as I grew with the trees.

I wish everyone could experience what I did.

Truly amazing project!

My visit to Sadhana Forest Haiti was an unforgettable experience. This place is a truly unique opportunity to experience what it is like to invest your time and energy into a project that really matters. With the experience of more then 7 years Sadhana Forest Haiti is cooperating with the local people to create food forests for long-term food security and restoration of the environment. Sadhana Forest Haiti is a place of hope and love based on wonderful core values like, veganism, gift-economy, unschooling, sustainable living, zero-waste etc. By volunteering at Sadhana Forest Haiti you have the unique opportunity to meet amazing like minded people and explore the beauty of the Carribean as well. I highly recommend you to pay Sadhana Forest Haiti a visit and help this amazing project in a place where your help is really needed!

What would you improve about this program?
It's already amazing and the more volunteers the better!
