Summer in Beijing

I came to China during my summer vacation and had a great time! There are so many benifits to doing this program, and most importantly, it's affortable. This is a great way to explore the country and live like a local. It can be hard to adapt to a new culture and live away from home, but you will be amazed how much you grow. You will make a life long connection with your host family and the children, and become a big brother or sister! I am so happy with my decision to work with Aupairia.
I love Aupairia!

What would you improve about this program?
There is a monthly allowance, but more money would be helpful.

Aupairia Review

This experience was amazing! This is the first time I have travelled outside my home country by myself and I got to experience and live life in China for 6 months. I got to visit many different places in and around Beijing(where I was placed), I met many different people from all over the world and have made some friemds for life. I got to see and experience a completely different culture to what I was used to. I lived with a chinese family and also got to learn the language while I was here by attending the madarin and culture classes that are provided by the company. Finally I got to grow as a person, this helped me become more confident both in myself and socially and it helped me become more independant. I would reccommend this programme to anyone who is thiinking of travelling and doesn't know where to start or wants to gain some experience with dealing with children.

What would you improve about this program?
A little more support when going through the initial culture shock would have been nice and also an increase on the allowance you are given would be good because currently the amount is not enough to live on while in China.

Great experience that i highly recommend

I applyed for a 3 months programm and in my opinion its the best you can do, and after that if you want to stay longer you must extend it.
It was a pleasure to come here, in the first weeks it was a little bit difficult but then i made a huge relation with the other aupairs and also with the family.
Overall if you want to do something like this dont hesitate since that you can experience a way different culture and basicly have everything paid

Amazing Cultural Experience

This program was a great experience. You're placed with a family most likely in the upper middle class of china so it's more than accomadating. It's low cost (flights are payed for by the company) and you get a monthly allowance. during your time off you can spend it with the other au pairs from all over the world and learn new things about people and places. This experience was one I wont ever forget!

What would you improve about this program?
The monthly allowance was 1000rmb a month which is about 150 USD. your meals are all provided so you dont need to spend a lot of money. It would have been cool to have a bit extra money to use!

Great Program!

I am very happy with my decision to participate in this program. It was an unforgetable experience. Being in a foreign country can be difficult, but it was definitely worth it. My host kids are amazing; so smart and sweet. I will miss them so much. The children love art so I did weekly "special projects" with them and they expressed to me that they will miss that the most. I am thankful to have found this program because otherwise, I likely would not have travelled to China and witness all the amazing history and culture.

Amazing opportunity

I'm very glad that I decided to join this programme. The staff guide you from start to finish, and always help when you're in need (eg need to book a taxi back home, need a translation). Beyond that, the hours are very reasonable and you have ample time to visit Beijing. It might be a bit of a tight schedule to visit other cities, but there's more than enough to do in Beijing for 3 months so you won't ever be too bored.

My host family was incredible, my host mum was accommodating and made me feel right at home from the start. My kids were adorable and I already miss them! The Chinese lessons held at Beijing Foreign Studies University are taught by an excellent teacher, who is warm and very experienced.

What would you improve about this program?
The staff could be better at communication, eg. many things with the university (as we were the pilot batch) were just sprung on us

3 Months in BJ

I had a fantastic time as an Aupair in China. My time spent tutoring is incredibly reasonable, and it allows for me to spend a good portion of time exploring Beijing. Beyond this, I had the opportunity to visit many other Chinese cities during my time which further enriched my visit. The living conditions were extremely comfortable and transport was convenient and affordable.

I also had the chance to learn Mandarin at a local university, which, very immediately enabled me to unlock a lot more doors in a country where english is still not widely spoken.

Aupairia

This program is a great way to experience China, especially on a limited budget! You don’t have to worry about your living costs, and still have enough money to explore Beijing and make the most of your time here. The company was very flexible to me, and allowed me to fit in other commitments whilst still completing the program. It is also a great way to start teaching English, without having to commit to having your own class of students! I would recommend this experience to others.

Mandarin Learning with Aupairia Program

During my 3 months with Aupairia, I was given many opportunities to improve my Mandarin skills. The program offers weekly Mandarin classes at Beijing Foreign Studies University, which are great for learning basic Mandarin conversational and reading skills. The classes also offer a taste of what university life is like in China. The Mandarin learnt in class is great to take home and practice with your host family! There are many opportunities in daily life in China to practice your Mandarin, such as ordering food at a restaursant and talking to your host family. Overall, a fantastic experience!

What would you improve about this program?
Offering classes at different levels as not everyon in on the same page with their Mandarin.

A fantastic experience!

Whilst looking for things to do during my gap year, I came across Aupairia. The program drew me in as, unlike au pairing in other countries, you have the choice of a 3 month, 6 month, 9 month or 1 year program. It also differs in that your main role as an aupair is to help the children improve their English as opposed to looking after them. During my 3 months in China with Aupairia, I had the opporunity to immerse myself in Chinese culture and improve my Mandarin skills. I was placed with a lovely host family who gave me a comfortable living space and 3 meals a day. The teaching hours were extremely reasonable and I had plenty of time to explore Beijing.
