One of the best experiences of my life.

I'm going to make this short but living in Spain for a month is by far one of my favorite life experiences. The program was incredibly helpful with getting connected to a new culture and place. Learning the language was so much fun and inspiring and I still use Spanish almost everyday where I live. The housing was by far the best part. I'm still in touch with my host mom and will be visiting her when I return to Spain this summer. Overall the experience was great and life changing.

What would you improve about this program?
There should be greater freedom during the program as an encouragement to get more involved with the culture and some staff coordination for events could be improved.

Changing lives one 15 year old at a time

Being my first trip abroad without my parents, this program really took me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to embrace a culture unlike any other. Although I didn't feel super confident traveling without my parents, the providers were there every step of the way and became everybody's friends! This program has everything, from history, to old Korean culture, to modern Korean culture, to language, food and more! Korea has a very different history and culture from the U.S., but the growing influence that we have in Korea is making this program even more important for American students.

Alicante CIEE

Incredible professors who really care about the students and their learning process, catered to each students level individually. Great staff, sometimes can seem a little tedious but that's just due to liability issues (they really don't care what you do). Only one student in my program had an issue with their host family, everyone loved their home stays including me. Also, such a great eclectic group of students, I will never forget them or my experience in Alicante :) and don't forget to TRAVEL!!!

Ciee Experience

It had its highs and lows but overall it was a really good experience. The trip had moments of being a very scary experience (getting lost in a big city, getting int a car accident, losing your phone) but it has also given me amazing experiences like meeting people in Sevilla, It has broadened my horizons, finding amazing new discoveries and helping me connect with people further than where I live

Me encanta Sevilla

My experience in Seville has been absolutely amazing! Everything that I have done has helped me grow closer and closer to my goals. Obviously I couldn't have enjoyed everything otherwise everyone would want to come on this trip, but I feel that every new thing on this trip had a purpose and I probably learned more from the activities than I think I did. I will always be grateful for every opportunity that I am provided with and I think that this is probably the best one so far. This trip has taught me things that you can't teach in a classroom and has brought me closer to people I never would have even met. Thank you CIEE for the past month and for everything that taught me.

What would you improve about this program?
Some of the host families were not the best. There were some instances where the host families were not fit for their kids and some kids even had to move because of other issues. I think that there should be higher expectations when selecting host families to prevent bad things from happening to the students.

Summer in Seville 2017

This summer was awesome! I had the oppurtunity to meet so many different people from all across the US! I had to oppurtunity to stay with Spaniards and got the chance to meet the locals! I loved learning about the drastically different culture and experiencing different Spanish events with the friends I made. I really valued the free time we had and truly experienced the way that a typical Spainard lives. Also it felt very rewarding to have Spanish conversations with new people when I went into the stores or restaurants, I felt like I was actively participating in a different culture than my own. Highly recommend going to Seville!

What would you improve about this program?
The amount of school work was a little too much. Also, the activities weren't always planned out efficiently meaning details about times and meeting places weren't always clear to the students.

¡Vale!

Immersion truly is the best way to learn a language. I can´t believe how far I´ve come within just one month. My Spanish isn´t perfect, but I can proudly say I can make my way comfortably around Spain. This whole month has been incredibly beautiful, and I am extremely thankful I got to experience Spanish culture firsthand. From the food, the sights, the music, the dancing, it´s all a wonderful experience. I definitely prefer this to flashcards for trying to learn Spanish.

What would you improve about this program?
The ITCs were incredibly scripted and forced, I feel we all could have learned more through actual experiences.

Ciee Sevilla Spain

This program truly has helped me grow as a person. It has allowed me to learn Spanish better while meeting new friends. I want future participants to know to be optimistic and have hope. Also they need to know that not every part of the trip will be fun. My favorite memory is Granada because it was fun and showed the many different cultures in Spain. I really enjoyed the program and and learned a lot from it.

I Love CIEE

This program changed my life I view things very different now that I know that there is more in the world than my little town. My experience was unique because I made sure to make the most of my time here and not everyone did that. When we would go out to eat I would make sure we were going to a traditional Spanish restaurant. I got lost a few times but it was a fun experience that everyone should enjoy.

What would you improve about this program?
This program can be improved by having less walking tours and maybe more activities where your doing hands on activities. Also the ITCs are not very useful to me and I think something else similar should be substituted for them.

Visiting a New Place

I have been traveling to Hungary for every year of my life, so I am used to changing cultures every year. When I got to Sevilla I was pretty confident that I wouldn't be influenced by culture shock too much. In many eayd the appearance of the city and the people seemed very similar to Hungary. However the language and night life of Sevilla are different from anything I have experienced before. I think I have adjusted pretty well to my surroundings, and i will be very sad to leave Sevilla, because now I am totally used to this way of life now. Although it is similar in ways to Hungary, the differences hete make being here in Sevilla a unique and irreplaceable experience for me.
