The wonderful small city called Beihai

I only spent a short two weeks in Beihai, a tiny city in the south of Guangxi Province. It features a beautiful beach, tons of good restaurants and not many people who speak English - the perfect location for immersing yourself in the Chinese language.
Everyone here is very helpful towards foreigners. While the organisation from LTLs side was great, I often tried new things in the evening by myself (when there weren't any planned social events). No matter what I did, even with my Beginner Chinese skills, people would always help me out and it worked somehow. Whether it trying out some streetfood, going to the gym or just general shopping.

Great place to quickly improve your Mandarin, planning on coming back!

Pros
  • Small City: Less Stress more Friendliness
  • Beautiful Beach
  • Great Teachers and Social Events
Cons
  • If you are from Central / Northern Europe, you might be surprised by the amount of huge Snails and cockroaches in general. Thankfully, my housing provided by LTL was perfectly clean.

Amazing experience in Chengdu.

I had an amazing time at LTL Language school undertaking an intensive language course as well as a homestay with family for 4 weeks. All 4 of my teachers were very knowledgable and offered variety in strengths and experiences. My overall experience was well managed by Mandy who was very attentive to my experience and questions and needs.

My Homestay family I was placed in was exceptional, providing meals every day, friendly, attentive to my whereabouts and movements and lovely and accepting children. They provided extra curricular cultural experiences on weekends and weeknights.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this school and experience to anyone.

Thank you Pan Pan!

I really loved studying at LTL. I think that I got one of the best teachers. Presli was always kind to me. We have improved my Chinese much. I developed my listening and speaking skills. Presli took me to lunch every day and other events where we could practice Chinese and immerse into Sichuan culture. We have visited QingCheng mountains where we found many picturesque views for taking breathtaking photos. I really loved this place. Despite this is the mountains, this place is very urbanised and you can get, for example, fresh water almost every 150 meters.

What was your funniest moment?
We had so many funny moments. But the most funny time I had during our trip to mountains. We spend much happy time together.
Pros
  • The way the teacher teaching the subject
  • Teacher was always open to any questions
  • Teacher helped us to find out more about sichuan culture and Chengdu

Experience

The summer camp was amazing! Activities were so fun I made a lot of friends here, classes were great too the teachers explain everything amazing in an understanding and interactive way, they explained grammar and gave homework that helped memorized the vocabulary reviewed in class. After the school we went to different restaurant with tradicional Korean food, and we even got to emblematic places and museums to know more about Korean history, also went to funn places such as Nami island, zoo, and amusement park. I truly regiment the one month experience!

Best 3-week Mandarin Study

Underwent a three week program here with the homestay and safari package included and can confidently say this has been the perfect place to improve my Mandarin skills. The staff are wonderful people to work with and the work is rigorous but can be accomplished and I have seen a noticeable improvement since starting here. The safari package is a wonderful addition because it gave me the chance to get out of my comfort zone and use oral communication in real life scenarios that had me appreciating the numerous vocab we learned. I also appreciated the class style that allowed me to hone in on my bad habits and clean up my communication to ensure my point was understood. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
As part of practicing oral communication, I had to interview strangers in Mandarin and I was super nervous to do so. The people I asked though were super helpful and helped improve my confidence in speaking the language.
Pros
  • Accessible
  • Affordable

LTL Online Flexi Classes is a fantastic way to study a variety of languages from the comfort of your own home.

LTL Online Flexi Classes is a fantastic way to study a variety of languages from the comfort of your own home. I have taken several courses in both Japanese and Vietnamese and in both courses, the teachers have been encouraging and knowledgeable about their respective subjects. I particularly like the amount of speaking practice that students receive, as that is often difficult to achieve when studying at home. It is also incredibly helpful to have access to the class materials prior to the lessons so that you can preview what you will be learning, along with being able to save the materials as notes for later. Overall, I would definitely recommend these lessons to anyone who wants to learn a language without breaking the bank.

I had the best teacher ever!

Learning Mandarin in LTL Shanghai was incredible! Three months ago, I was basically lost in class. Everything was in Chinese, and I could only understand maybe 20% at best, but thanks to my amazing teacher (Ms. Evelyn and Ms. Anne), I'm now up to 80% comprehension!

My teacher's teaching style were super chill, but their teaching was on point. They explained everything super clearly, even the tricky grammar stuff, and were always patient with my (probably) super basic questions. Plus, they totally tailored the lessons to what I wanted to learn - in my case, listening comprehension.

Besides, learning Mandarin wasn't just about the language, it totally boosted my confidence! In three months, I went from barely understanding a word to following along in conversations pretty smoothly now. That's a huge jump, and it feels amazing.

The whole experience was awesome. Not just the teaching, but the people too! I met so many cool classmates from all over the world. It was amazing connecting with people from different cultures while we all struggled (and succeeded!) with Mandarin together. If you're looking for a fun, friendly language program in Shanghai with superstar teachers, this is the place! You'll learn tons, make awesome friends, and have a blast while doing it. Definitely recommend!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I came across something called chou tofu, also known as stinky tofu. The name is pretty accurate - the smell can definitely be...interesting! But as you discovered, the smell doesn't tell the whole story. Once you take a bite, the strong smell disappears, and it actually tastes quite good! So its a lesson dont judge a food by its smell/looks, go for it to try! hahaha
Pros
  • Good teacher
  • Made a lot of new connections
  • Activities every week
Cons
  • A bit pricey
  • Homestay house can be a lil dirty

I felt well taken care of and given personalized 1:1 treatment.

Learning Mandarin at LTL Taipei was a just what I was hoping for. Their flexible scheduling meant I could fit classes around exploring the city, and their teachers were incredibly supportive in creating a program tailored to my needs. Thanks to LTL, I not only improved my fluency but also rediscovered the joy of learning Chinese while experiencing living in the heart of Taipei.

I am very thankful for the teachers that invested in my learning experience. I felt very taken care of and would not hesitate to work with them again in the future! Thank you LTL for making this such a special and memorable time.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I loved all of the small "safari" trips we did in the city. It was such a great way to get to know Taipei and the other class mates. It was always easy to show up to the school and find out what you would explore the next time!
Pros
  • individualized tutoring and programs
  • clean and well taken care of facility
  • group lunches and other relationship building experiences
Cons
  • I wish the school was a bit bigger (more class rooms)
  • The lunch table was a bit too small, if a group was playing a game there you could not easily sit as well
  • I wish they had a bit more video content online to better show what the program would be like
