I joined Ninja Teacher Academy’s TEFL program in Ho Chi Minh City as a 52-year-old professional transitioning from a successful corporate career into teaching. I’ll admit that before arriving, I wondered whether I would fit in with a program that often attracts younger participants. Those concerns disappeared almost immediately.

What I found was an exceptionally well-run program that delivers tremendous value regardless of age, background, or previous experience. Whether you’re in your twenties looking for adventure or later in life pursuing a new chapter, Ninja Teacher Academy provides the knowledge, practical experience, and confidence needed to become an effective teacher.

The course is intensive, but in the best possible way. Every day is purposeful and focused on developing real classroom skills. We learned teaching methodology, lesson planning, classroom management, language analysis, and student engagement techniques, while also gaining extensive hands-on teaching practice. The amount I learned in just four weeks was genuinely impressive.

A major reason for that success was our trainer, Sadie. She is an exceptional educator and teacher trainer. Her knowledge, organization, professionalism, and ability to deliver constructive feedback were outstanding. She challenged us to improve every day while creating an environment where trainees felt supported and motivated. The quality of instruction alone made the program worthwhile.

The support staff also deserve tremendous credit. Gem, Leo, Mie, Ivy, and Samaira were consistently helpful, responsive, and genuinely cared about the trainee experience.

I want to give special recognition to Gem, Leo, and Mie, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the intensive four-week course running smoothly. They handled countless details with professionalism and positivity, making the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. Over the course of the program, they became more than staff members—they became friends. Their kindness and willingness to help made a significant impact on my overall experience.

I was also impressed by Alex, the founder of Ninja Teacher Academy. Rather than remaining removed from the day-to-day experience, he regularly stopped by to see how things were going, check in on trainees, and gather direct feedback from students. He was always approachable, friendly, and genuinely interested in ensuring that everyone had a positive experience. That level of involvement speaks volumes about the culture he has created and the standards he expects from the program.

What stands out most about Ninja Teacher Academy is that it doesn’t just prepare you to earn a TEFL certificate—it prepares you to teach. By the end of the course, I felt confident standing in front of a classroom, planning lessons, and applying proven teaching techniques. More importantly, I gained a deep respect for the profession and the skills required to do it well.

I was hesitating for a year before deciding to contact Ninja teacher and I’m so glad I did. Everyone in the staff was so helpful, thorough and supportive from the pre-arrival to during the course to job placement assisting to any question after the course. I had an incredible experience with the Ninja Teacher TEFL course! From day one, the staff were personable, approachable, and genuinely invested in our success. Sadie, our instructor, was phenomenal—she didn't just teach us techniques; she demonstrated them in real-time, making each class both engaging and incredibly effective. The course itself wasn't easy, but that's what made it worth it. I not only feel prepared to teach but also connected to a group of inspiring individuals I met along the way. I can confidently say that I walked away with both the skills and connections needed to succeed. If you're serious about teaching and want a course that genuinely prepares you for it, I couldn't recommend Ninja Teacher enough!

I have been teaching English in Vietnam for six months now. During this time, I’ve reflected on my experience with Ninja Teacher and thought about who I would be if I hadn’t taken their TEFL course. Without it, I would have arrived in May with just an online TESOL/TEFL certification, lacking a support system, mentors, and any real passion for the profession. You’ll gain access to a supportive alumni network and classmates who can enrich your daily life. Ninja gave me a strong social foundation within days of arriving in Vietnam.

Job Placement:
The best compliment you can give a business owner is that they hire well, and Alex has built a team that is talented, hardworking, and attentive. Within a week of finishing Ninja Teacher’s program, I received three job offer, this is a direct result of their administrative expertise.

The Ninja Teacher Training Academy was an overall 10/10 experience. From facilitating my move to Vietnam, to the invaluable class instruction and then finally job placement, I was very impressed every step of the way. It has been a very smooth process and I was able to find work at a very reputable English language center within two weeks of completing the course. They have also continued to provide me with any assistance needed, I can honestly say the teaching and support staff have gone above and beyond to ensure they have provided me with all the tools and support needed to be highly successful in this new career.

Amazing course, would recommend to anyone. The entire staff, from onboarding, support, and the instructor were all too notch. They will do everything they can to help you adjust to life in Vietnam. The support doesn't stop with the course either. The instructor is one of the best I've ever had regardless of level or subject. If you're thinking of taking this course I would strongly suggest that you do. I had never traveled to Asia before so the support aspect was a huge draw for me and it did not disappoint.

The Ninja course introduces you to a group of people who will be studying with you, and provides opportunities to create last friends outside of the course. There is a monthly meet-up to help new teachers/students socialize and meet everyone, and alumni are free to join.

Their job placement program helped me get a job within a week of completing the course. It does NOT cost extra like some other courses I looked at. The provide details into required documents, how to get them, tax laws, and recommend a lot of foreigner friendly services from everything like dentist, doctor, mental health, or where to buy cheese.

I couldn’t rate this course much higher! Excellent support from everyone at Ninja Teacher and I feel ready to start my career and begin life in a new country! All the pre-course support was invaluable, the course itself is the ideal starter program to get classroom ready and the post-course assistance is second to none. I wholeheartedly recommend Ninja teacher! Big love to Sadie, Alex, Chi, Gem, Ivy, Miranda, Seb, Jacob and everyone else behind the scenes at ninja teacher who make the magic happen!
