Bali programme

This was an amazing experience! The programme itself is very well run and organised. I loved teaching in the school and was well supported. I have made friends for life as well as seeing a part of the world I normally would not have been able to see. I would recommend this to everyone. You have enough time to do things outside teaching as well, for example visit places in Bali. It feels like a real community and every day is super fun and rewarding. You are trained and prepared well to teach and I felt as though there was help if I needed it.

Memories Made

What an amazing experience! I had such a great time on this course. The teaching was very rewarding, and a lot easier than I thought it would be, and outside of the teaching, there was plenty of time to explore the country it's self!

The company had a few issues with organisation which was difficult to deal with, but overall it was a great part of my year!

I have made so many great friends from this trip, who I hope to see again soon. It felt great to finally meet people with similar mindsets. Give it a try if you're even just thinking about it!

Pros
  • Activities
  • Character building
  • Self confidence
Cons
  • Organisation

Amazing experience

It is so good for students as gotoco funds everything and we get to travel plus get a qualification basically for free. The budget is not tight so we get good quality accommodation and trips as well which is really impressive. Both programmes were well run and organised. The participants definitely learnt a lot as the days were quite intense. I loved the fact that they mixed fun activities with learning English as it was fun for both the students and the teachers. It has taught me how to speak in front of large groups. It has given me the foundation knowledge to start teaching abroad in the future. It improved my conversational skills a lot as you had to speak to people with largely varying English levels and adapt your conversation to their abilities.
Overall amazing programme!

Gotoco TESOL trip - Thailand

Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity where I was able to meet like-minded people, amazing students and explore a beautiful country. It was a great experience where I was able to personally develop skills in public speaking, organisation and travelling independently. The relationships you form with the school, students, staff and fellow gotocoers is something unique as you are able to bond over this experience together. I would definitely recommend this programme to university students or young adults looking for growth, adventure and immersion into a new culture.

The people in Thailand are very friendly and welcoming which made this overall experience very memorable.

The best summer teaching in Thailand

I had the best time on the short stay Thailand teaching programme. I absolutely loved my experience with Gotoco. From all the people I have met along the way to exploring different areas of Thailand, it has been incredible. The whole Gotoco team is lovely and very helpful throughout the whole process. I was lucky enough to meet some amazing people and make some great friendships. The orientation week activities (such as a meditation session with a monk) was great, I loved teaching the kids at my placement school and the chance to explore new areas of Thailand on the weekends was a major highlight for me. I was able to improve my flexibility, confidence and gain valuable teaching experience. Overall, my time in Thailand has been one of the best experiences of my life and I am very grateful to Gotoco for providing that opportunity with their funded flight and accommodation package. I would 100% recommend anyone that is thinking of teaching abroad to do it with Gotoco - they won't let you down!

Pros
  • Opportunity to travel and meet new people
  • Funded flights, accommodation and certificate
  • Gained teaching experience

2 months in Vietnam

I spent 8 weeks in Thai Binh city in the north of Vietnam. I taught around 20 hours a week to a range of ages, from kindergarteners (3-6) to post-university students (21+). This range of ages allowed me to teach in different styles and challenged me to adapt my teaching skills. Through the program I learnt invaluable communication skills and made great friends. I lived with 7 other teachers and we travelled together at the weekends exploring the beauty of Vietnam. Gotoco covered the cost of flights as well as accommodation and food for the duration of the teaching program as well as organising 5 days for an end of program trip.

Pros
  • Meeting new people
  • Gaining teaching experience
  • Travelling Vietnam

An amazing experience in Colombia

This programme has made me so confident in my ability to engage in a professional and meaning life outside of the UK. I feel confident in immersing myself in a culture different to my own and be able to comfortably create a life for myself.
Being able to immerse myself in an authentic Colombian town and live a life here was amazing. I loved experiencing an education system that was very different to ours and sees children being more vocal and affectionate with their teachers. It was also amazing to learn how to salsa, engage in daily casual activities and explore different parts of Colombia. I met so many amazing people and made friends for life.

TESOL Trainee

My favourite thing was living with a Vietnamese host as I constantly felt integrated into the cultural practices. She often told us a lot about the history and practices of her hometown and other places in Vietnam.

This was my first experience teaching and it has taught me important transferrable skills as communication, people management, and public speaking. Moreover, being immersed in a different culture completely has been an eye-opening experience which has broadened my worldview.

The application was fairly straightforward in terms of administration from the candidate's end. And GOTOCO were very helpful all steps of the way - I truly felt supported.

Pros
  • Culture immersion
  • Up-skilling
  • Travel

Bali summer with Gotoco

The experience was great. There was lots of support before we left, and tons of support during the course also. We were given training, support and guidance as to how to teach the kids, and were given a 2 week training course whilst in bali to ensure we knew what to do and how to handle classroom situations.

Overall, the Trinity CertTESOL work was straightforward to follow, and allowed you to reflect on your teaching and develop new ways to teach. The staff were all helpful, and always answered any questions we had.

Pros
  • Funded accommodation
  • Funded flights
  • Funded qualification
