Grateful for this program

Moving to a different country and learning a completely new culture has been emotionally taxing and very difficult - however Rob and his team ensured that from the day I arrived here I was taken care of, so my transition has been very smooth and really enjoyable! All the small but major things I never thought of (like a new sim card, 😂) were catered for. It has been a less than a week since I arrived, but I feel so comfortable and confident that I'm about to live my greatest life yet. I am eternally grateful and my investment has been well worth every penny.

What was your funniest moment?
In retrospective, all the worries I had.

My experience with English Wizards

I loved cooperating with EW. They were very helpful, and friendly throughout the process.
Especially Rob, and Nick were great. I was able to get a response whenever I needed, and very quickly. Once you get into the community, you get to feel like you have been there for some time, you can find answers to your potential questions & concerns, and even make friends before even going there.
Through the program I was in, I had the opportunity to talk to many different schools all around the country, with EW's reputation, you feel that schools trust, and value you from the first step.
I highly recommend them to anybody who loves languages, travelling, and having fun.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I could have gone with another route.

Teach English in Poland with English Wizards

I have had a breeze since contacting English Wizards about my wish to move to Poland. Everything has been fantastic, thanks to their ready assistance. My husband and I have now been in Poland for a month and we're loving every minute of it. Thank you English Wizards. The weather is not your fault (sic!)

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Last night I went out bar hopping with my new friends. I shocked them when I ate Galareta and actually enjoyed it. Check it out!
Pros
  • I'm abroad - on my bucket list
  • I'm having fun
  • I'm still working on my terms
Cons
  • The sun has kinda disappeared. I see it once a week if I'm fortunate.

Really incredible experience with great support

Teaching in Poland was an incredible experience. The streamlined application process and continuous support made the transition seamless. The teaching placement surpassed expectations, with well-equipped schools and supportive colleagues. Plus I got help finding accomodation. That really made the transition easier. Living in Poland was a cultural experience plus I got excellent local support. Highly recommended. Big thanks to Rob and his team for the support they provided. Hope to take part again in the future. Cheers and Na Zdrowe!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Perogies without any meat in them! Ugh, they're only good with meat.
Pros
  • Great support from the team and fast application process.
Cons
  • Poland can be cold in the winter.

What was your funniest moment?
I asked "Mateus" to close the door - but there were two Mateuses, so they both jumped up to close the door, shoving and fighting over it - you had to be there to appreciate the humor. The three girls and I couldn't stop laughing.

Even the adults I met didn't pay close attention to US politics, but I do. So many people have the notion that Donald Trump is a smart, good businessman. So when I'd tell them the latest ignorant, ignominious thing he said that day they wouldn't believe it until I'd show them the clip and they'd laugh hilariously.

I had a student who grew up in the UK and his deadpan humor, with his accent, would crack me up every lesson! So many of my students had very funny senses of humor.
Pros
  • Beautiful country and I loved the proximity to Europe and Middle East. Traveled to 12 countries; many cities. Fascinating conversations were the best part!
  • When I'd have a good day with my favorite students, life was wonderful and I wouldn't trade my job for anything.
  • I had unique cultural experiences, met interesting and unforgettable people who warmly accepted and often admired me.
Cons
  • While the cost of living was much lower in Poland (about 30% of my US cost), so was the pay (about 25% of my US pay).
  • No paid holidays nor sick time. Rent+taxes= ~$850. Working ~20 hrs for 4 wks, nearly paid my rent + taxes. But working only 2 wks/month = ~$400/month.
  • Cancellations - Individual adults especially are busy and often cancel. So you can't always plan on that income.

English Wizards Rocks!

I arrived in Poland from Zimbabwe three months after my application, yes Zimbabwe! This was my first teach and travel venture and at 52 it was awesome as I travelled with my teen daughter. English Wizards handled and helped me through everything - visa, work permit, TRC, job search, bank account and contracts with my schools. The fact that I couldn't speak Polish was not a barrier. I first settled in Rzeszow then moved to Gdansk, places that I used to see on the map. I am back in Africa due to family obligations, but am entertaining the idea of cooperating with English Wizards once more.

Amazing support

If you're an English teacher eyeing the Polish ELT scene, don't look any further! I was teaching K12 in Turkey back in September 2022 when English Wizards interviewed me. I bought a package right away and the journey began. The road to visa was long and twisty for me, but Nick, Rob and others were always there to help. Thanks to their unwavering support, my visa was granted a few days ago, and I will be flying to Poland soon as an incubator. I'm really excited to join all the other wizards in Krakow.

Highly recommend

English Wizard's service Teach in Poland Program and the visa support package made it possible for me to move to Poland and obtain a visa to continue living and working in Poland as an ESL teacher which I've really loved so far. Demand for English lessons is high so I feel I can safely say that you're bound to find work here. Poland is such a beautiful country, with an unbelieavably rich culture. Moving to a foreign country has its challenges but it makes a world of a difference to know you have the help of experts to assist you along the process - the staff at English Wizards have been SUPER helpful in giving me advice and guidance. They are very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I highly recommend.

Pros
  • Discover a new country and culture
  • Amazing travelling
  • Support

Teaching with English Wizards

I came to Krakow in September 2021 to start teaching English in Poland. My initial contract was with English Wizards (EW). They provided extensive support with regards to sorting all the necessary immigration admin, and I was responsible for finding a teaching post. Although EW provides a regularly updated 'job board' to assist with searches.

From the start and throughout my time here I've found EW extremely helpful, both with administrative queries but also through the provision of lots of social and induction activities to help people make friends and find their feet in the first few months of living in a new country. The staff are friendly, approachable and helpful.

What's more, although no longer directly contracted with them, as I'm part of the 'EW community' I'm still able to contact them for support and advice when necessary. They're a great team and, if you're thinking of teaching English in Poland, I'd definitely recommend getting in touch with them to find out more! Start your adventure...

Pros
  • Excellent administrative support
  • Friendly and helpful staff
  • Social activities
