Wanted to Stay More

All I can say after this program is that I wanted to stay here more than I had. It never felt enough because there was just so much to do here. I was always doing something that made me really happy and helped me relax. It was a little difficult adjusting to a new place but you get the hang of it early. I loved the program's curriculum and it definitely aligned with what I want to do in the future. Speaking of the future I think this program makes you future ready. The skills I learnt here are better than what was taught to me over years earlier. Overall it was a great time.

What was your funniest moment?
It was when there was a monkey on campus and it ran with my friend's water bottle in hand.
Pros
  • Renowned Faculty
  • Great Campus
  • Friendly Peers
Cons

Beyond Academics

Even after three years at Ashoka, it still doesn’t feel monotonous. Each day feels unique, with the university constantly organizing festivals and activities that keep students engaged. Weekends are especially exciting—you can either dive into academic immersions or enjoy the vibrant fest culture.

Sports opportunities are incredibly diverse; almost every sport is available, and students can join teams and compete in numerous tournaments with nearby universities as well as institutions across India. Alongside this, there’s a wide range of clubs and societies to join, and even the freedom to start your own if you have an idea.

Overall, Ashoka offers a well-rounded experience for anyone looking to grow academically while also making the most of campus life.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

The Place That Stays With You

I've had so much fun in these 2 weeks that words cannot explain. It was great to share space with other like minded people whom you can trust and build careers with. The campus feels like a space space where one can be anything. This program has helped me regain focus and pivoted my career into a direction that I firmly believe will help me reach my goals. I made lifelong friends and some really important connections. I loved the way the faculty taught and how immersive the program was. This program is sure to become a big part of your life.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The most surprising thing for me was the friendly way students and professors interacted. I had thought that you could only approach professors during class time and not after that, but I saw everyone interacting on the same level.
Pros
  • Great Learning Experience
  • Friendly Professors
  • Like Minded Peers
Cons
  • Small Campus
  • Bad Weather

Campus life at Ashoka

It's been 3 years at Ashoka and I still am not bored. Everyday is a special day where university is hosting festivals and engaging the student body. Weekends are the best, you can choose to either engage yourself in academic immersions that take place or have some fun at tests.

There is no sports thats not available here, you can get into the team and compete in in-numerous tournaments with all neighboring universities and also universities across India.

There are so many clubs and societies to take part in or create one of your own if you intend to. Ashoka gives a full round experience to someone who wants to learn and also have fun.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I fell sick once and was worried about missing classes and how would i catch up. But the worry was truely short lived as the faculty her is so accommodating and helpful. I also had help from different support bodies and helpdesk to get me back on the track.
Pros
  • You plan your own schedule
  • Laundry, Housekeeping and Maintenance services are just a phone call away
  • Easy to navigate academic trackers available
Cons
  • in a remote area
  • have to go delhi for major chores (but free shuttle services available)
  • too safe and pampering campus setting that you will have adaptation issues leaving it

The Lab Is Just Half of It

There is a specific kind of exhaustion you feel after a long day in the lab when the work actually matters. This program gives you that.

You work directly with faculty mentors and their research groups, including PhD and graduate students, on projects you choose because they genuinely interest you. Fields range from cell biology and genomics to neuroscience, climate and health, and dihydrogen technologies.  Nobody is handing you busywork. By week two, you are in the middle of something real, asking questions your supervisor actually has to think about before answering.

Then you walk out of the lab and back into campus life, which does not slow down just because you are tired. In the evenings, people sit on the main lawn, go to club meetings, play sports, or just wander. There are over 50 student clubs, and the study abroad office organizes bike rides, movie nights, and Delhi cultural tours. After a week of pipettes and data, a Saturday in Chandni Chowk feels like a completely different world. It is.

The program lasts 8 to 10 weeks, which is long enough for you to stop being a visitor. Rooms are double-sharing with AC, four meals a day are included, and the library is open 24/7 with food available until 4 AM.

The point is you come back knowing what research actually feels like and that experience matters.

Six Weeks That Feel Like a Whole Semester

Ashoka is one of those places that sounds too good on paper, so you go in skeptical. Then you actually get there.

The six-week VSP lets you take up to two courses from a genuinely interesting list: Indian Civilizations, International Geopolitics, Visual Storytelling, Philosophy of Love. But the classroom is almost secondary to everything happening around it. Somewhere between your first and second class, you get lunch, and by evening you are sitting on the main lawn with people you met three days ago, debating your assignment like you have known each other for years. That is just a Tuesday.

The best way to describe life at Ashoka is that it is always happening. You are housed with Ashoka students, not other internationals, which means your social circle does not just become a smaller version of home. You are sharing a room, sharing meals, sharing the weird in-between hours with people whose lives look very different from yours. That is the part nobody puts in the brochure, but everybody remembers.

The library is open 24/7, food outlets stay open until 4 AM, and there is no curfew. Nights at Ashoka have a life of their own. Weekends are for Delhi, which is 30 minutes away by shuttle and metro, and overwhelming in the best possible way.

Six weeks sounds short, but it goes fast.

Radha's Review

The university and office encourage us to think outside the box, explore new ideas, and broaden our academic horizons. Feeling grateful for the support and opportunities! The program is thoroughly enjoyable and meaningful. It builds creativity, critical thinking, and growth. I'm appreciative of the freedom to explore and learn. The experience is enriching, and gaining valuable insights and skills. The university itself is a very safe and secure place to be in. Other than academics, program encourages to explore on your own.

Academics

The faculty members are world class. The teaching pedagogy is at par with the best universities in the world. The housing is also great, you get a Ashoka room partner, which helps integrate in the Ashoka culture. The student buddy , staff all are very helpful and amazing. I recommend their summer research and summer course programmes to everyone.

Apart from this, the food and other facilities on campus are also great like gym, swimming pool and more.

Amazing summer programe at Ashoka University

My overall experience with the Summer Program at Ashoka University was very positive. The program was well structured, academically enriching, and professionally managed.

The courses offered were rigorous and intellectually stimulating. Faculty members were knowledgeable, approachable, and encouraged interactive learning, which enhanced the overall academic experience.

The coordination and support provided by the Office of Global Education and other administrative teams were efficient and timely. Queries were addressed promptly, and communication throughout the program was clear and helpful.
