My Amazing Time at Camp

My experience at the camp was amazing. It was incredible to meet people from different countries, share experiences, and create friendships that I’ll always remember. The children were full of energy and enthusiasm, always eager to try new activities, and the teamers were kind, supportive, and fun to work with. The camp offered the perfect mix of adventure activities and team challenges, making every day exciting and rewarding.

One of the sweetest moments was on my birthday, when the group of girls I was taking care of surprised me with balloons, small gifts, and a very sweet celebration. It was incredibly thoughtful and touching, and I grew very fond of them — it’s a memory I will treasure forever.

Overall, my time at the camp was awesome, filled with learning, unforgettable moments, and a strong sense of connection with both the children and the team. I left with valuable experiences, personal growth, and a heart full of gratitude.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers is to keep an open mind. You’ll meet people from all over the world, try new activities, and experience things you might never have imagined. One fun and unique experience I had was during a night activity where we got to dress up our teamer in costumes — it was hilarious, brought everyone together, and created a memory that we still laugh about today. Embrace every moment and be ready to step out of your comfort zone — that’s where the magic happens!
Pros
  • Meeting people from different countries and creating unforgettable friendships.
  • Energetic and motivated children, always eager to participate in activities.
  • Adventure activities and team challenges that make every day exciting and fun.
Cons
  • Some days can be physically demanding due to the number of activities and the children’s energy.
  • Missing home or family during the camp stay.
  • Managing large groups of children can be challenging and requires constant patience and organization.

It feels like home

This was my second time at camp, and I am already looking forward to go back for summer 2024 as a third year returnee. It's incredible how different it feels when you come back expecting that it will be the same as the previous year. My advice: go with an open mindset, ready to face challenges and create new friendships, but overall, ready for improving as a human being (self growth is huge at camp). This time I felt much more confident when running activities for kids and teens, and I also got the chance to travel around Europe during my week off together with some international friends. It somehow all worked out great, and I feel so greateful for it. At this point, camp is now part of my summer family and I am willing to drop by whenever I can cause it fills me with so much joy.

Just come :) You won't regret.

Pros
  • You make lifelong international friendships
  • It brings you out of your comfort zone
  • You improve your language skills
Cons
  • You get few breaks throughout the day

Camp review

So much fun, adventure, chaos and energy. I was at camp for a month, and it went by so quickly, because I was so absorbed in the moment! I was never an adventurous person but I went for the experience and I have no regrets. It's a great place to step outside of your comfort zone and throw yourself into a challenge. I've left camp with more energy, more friends, more confidence than I had going into camp. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something new, something adventurous, and meet some cool people.

Pros
  • Opportunities to meet people
  • Travel to Germany
  • Lots of adventurous activities
Cons
  • Living conditions can be rough
  • Can be tiring

Challenging and inspiring summer

Working for Campadventure has been a fulfilling and exciting experience. I worked as a teamer in an adventure camp for kids and teenagers in Germany. Being a teamer means taking care of a group of kids, explain and run the daily outdoor activities with them.
Never was there a moment where I felt bored, everything was a challenge for the kids and for me as well. Thanks to a strong community I have always felt supported, also during stressful times, and never left alone. I made really good friends, because the people working for Camp adventure have all something in common- that is, love for nature, for being active and a desire to step-out from the comfort-zone to find your true-self. In Camp you learn to think about life in a more easy and spontaneous way, that is why a lot of flexibility is required from the teamers: everyday is different and you need to be ready to face every kind of situation. Apart from running great outdoor activities like archery, canoe and kayak, raftbuilding , shelter-building, fire-making, high ropes, you get the chance to grow as a person and develop strong bonds with people from all over the globe. Overall I consider myself lucky to have had the chance to join the Campadventure community for the Summer 2021 and hope to be part of it again in the future.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Jump into this experience with an open mind and heart and you will enjoy it 100%.

Camp Adventure

The thing the stands out the most for me is the amount of fun that I had. With the kids, the teamers, the activities, the campfires, and everything in between! It's not an easy job, the days are long, we don't have a lot of free time and it's not for everyone but I will most definitely come back next year! You create such close bonds with your group of kids and I really felt like I was a big sister to my teenage girls, it's always sad to see them leave. It's the perfect opportunity to meet different people from all over the globe and to make true friendships.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
In my first group of kids, my very first week as a teamer, I had to run activities for the first time and guide the group, I was very nervous. Although once you are in it, the confidence kicks in, and as you experience running activities week after week, the nerves start to go away.

Summer adventure

Camp is so wonderful that you end up getting drawn back year after year! Coming back this year was like being welcomed back home by a wonderfully large family! Whilst overall organisation may not be the strongest at camp they make up for it in wonderful directors who support you with all your worries and queries throughout the summer, creating a incredibly strong and united teamer team who really are there for you whenever you may need it. If you're someone who enjoys the challenge of working outside and in nature with children and a wonderful team of young people and adults then camp is for sure the place for you!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Whilst I'm not afraid of standing in front of a class and teaching I sometimes struggle with organising larger groups and lack sometimes the confidence in myself to take the lead fully. Camp this year supported me to step out of my comfort zone and learn that I am more than capable of taking the lead not only when no one else can but also now voluntarily.

Best summer ever

I found Camp Adventure when I was bored at work and was looking for ways to travel in the summer. I got to Germany two months later and now I never want to leave. I have met so many cool people from around the world and made so many memories with the campers this summer. I have really enjoyed my time getting to go to four different camps throughout my placement and I even extended my stay for two more months. I wish I didn’t have to leave. I am already looking forward to camp next summer to make more friends and memories!

What was your funniest moment?
I participated in 7 “decorate your teamer” competitions throughout the summer and won all 7 of them thanks to the creativity and enthusiasm of all my different groups.

Quarantine with a plot twist

Since the training week to the last week, I enjoyed every minute, every day and every activity, of course we had some highs and some lows, but that didn’t stop us from being teammers and do great. rain, cold and Quarantine where only regular situations we were dealing with and at one point those things were just words that didn’t stop us from making someone else grow and learn. The way we impact some kids it’s just incredible, they just see us as role models, every detail, what we eat, how we laugh, when we are happy and when we’re ready for a great time.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don’t be afraid of asking for help, be yourself and enjoy, no one is perfect, they’re all trying

Camp Europe - Outdoor Programs Specialist Internship

I had an amazing time and really look forward to returning next year. I met amazing people who shared so many interests with me and got to do so much more than I imagined. The camp atmosphere was amazing and everyone was extremely welcoming. If you enjoy being outdoors and working with kids, this is the perfect opportunity to experience both together. My placement location allowed me to see the beautiful landscapes of Bavaria while also being able to visit the local town in Southern Germany. Camp Europe was a great way to spend my summer abroad.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be ready to be surrounded by people you've never met before. There's no avoiding the first few days where you're learning everyone's names and finding who you click with. Embrace those awkward moments and remember that your campers will have to do the same thing.

An Incredible Journey

"It was a crazy ride, did not expect to be so enriching and that it will leave such a lasting impact on me. the skillsets, learning such a diverse culture, being able to interact with the whole world in such a small space and such incredible opportunities to develop myself professionally. Camp Europe did it all for me and in such a fun-filled way that I am raring to go back again. I would totally recommend it if you want to spend six months in an environment that you would want to cherish for all of your life. just remember the environment will challenge all your notions about the people all over the world and wherever you are from you will have a degree of culture shock and will push you out of your comfort zone" Go ahead do this program and have an experience of a lifetime
