About Program

Spend your January term studying abroad in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador with AIFS! Earn 3 credits over 2 weeks studying environmental science in the course Ecosystems and Biodiversity in the Galápagos. Based at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) extension campus on the island of San Cristóbal, this course is taught by USFQ faculty in English.

While living in Ecuador, you'll stay with local families on San Cristóbal Island and enjoy hotel accommodations elsewhere. Cultural visits and activities provide a robust experience as you learn about the major ecosystems of the Galápagos Islands firsthand. A 2-night excursion to Santa Cruz Island is included with the program.

This program is currently not being promoted on Go Overseas by its provider. Check with AIFS Abroad for the most up-to-date information regarding the status of this program.

Impact 🌎

In response to the overwhelming global climate crisis, AIFS Abroad is pleased to make sustainability a key priority when considering organizational, operational, and programming decisions. We understand that the only way to effectively combat this crisis and mitigate the effects of climate change is to drastically reduce our environmental impact. Therefore, AIFS Abroad has committed to reaching carbon neutrality. AIFS Abroad is proud to announce we have signed the CANIE Accord, becoming the first US provider to make this commitment.
