About Program

A thematic course exploring methodological approaches to the investigation and interpretation of past societies with an emphasis on excavation practices. It examines the major frameworks including older and current trends as well as the regional archaeological context in Northern Greece. The in-classroom teaching is complemented by a practicum that also provides students with a hands-on, excavation and laboratory experience in the study of ancient artifacts and points at the different ways in which such experience can answer major archaeological questions.
