Exceeded my expectations!

I didn't know what to expect when I attended this classroom weekend. I was so worried I wouldn't know a lot and would be lost. I was also worried that I would be so tired from such an intensive weekend that I wouldn't absorb it all. Well, how wrong was I! The class was so well delivered, that I lost track of all time! The class tutor Asif was so engaging and knowledgeable, that attending his class was truly a pleasure. The people in my class were all so lovely and it was so great getting to know everyone and to do work exercises with them. Where ever you are in your TEFL class, this weekend course is such a great experience and it gives you a taster of being a teacher and preparing engaging material.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don't be nervous, everyone is in the same boat as you! Just go to the class and ask as many questions as you need to. You will come away with such a rewarding feeling.

Interactive and very interesting

This course was very hands-on and engaging. It packed a lot of learning into not a huge amount of time. Liz was an excellent teacher and inspired us all to work hard and we all learned a lot. Would reccomend to everyone. The days were long but passed quickly because the learning was so fast paced. It never dragged and the time flew by. I feel now much more ready to take on the challenge of stepping into the world of teaching English abroad. Definitely glad I did this course and once again, wLuke reccomend to all

Friendly, Fun, Full-on weekend

There was a LOT of information over the two long days (11 and 9 hours) but the tutor (Liz) was really easy-going, friendly relaxed and put everyone at ease.

She delivered the course effortlessly, kept all 15 of us engaged at all times (no mean feat), offered encouragement and fantastic feedback on teaching practice, explained concepts clearly and gave an amazing amount of background information. Her depth of knowledge of language is impressive. From break-time translations of Chaucer to a full 45 minute foreign language lesson in Japanese, her knowledge was impressive.

The course included games, two sessions of teaching practice, explanations of concepts, classroom management, everything we could possibly need to know.

I left at the end of the weekend, exhausted but enthused and confident, ready to finish my online coursework and start my new career.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I thought standing in front of a group of native English speakers, teaching them how to speak English, would be odd and I admit to being nervous before I arrived on the course. I needn’t have worried. Liz put everyone at ease and we were all in the same situation. We had a fantastic group who were all really supportive and we worked through it as a team.

Amazing

Simon is a great teacher and makes everything fun. He gave us a clear idea of what a tefl lesson should look like and also gave us plenty of useful tips and techniques to start working on our teaching experience.
I enjoyed the course way more than I could imagine. The atmosphere was quite relaxed, everyone was very active and on the same wave length, which made everything even better.
I would 100% recommend this course, the only downside is that it was too short!
Simon is the best teacher one could ask for, thank you!

Brilliant course

I really enjoyed the course and the instructor is wonderful!
We covered all the important areas of TEFL and had the opportunity to give many activities a try ourselves. In brief demo classes, we had the opportunity to apply our new gained knowledge and receive feedback from the instructor and the other course participants.
Our instructor was entertaining, supportive, and very experienced. He shared his broad knowledge and his teaching experiences with us and made the course a productive yet enjoyable event.

No regrets!

The classroom experience was very good in prepping us for what is to come. I have never had any teaching experience previously and so this gave me an eye-opener into what teaching would be like. The tutor was friendly and kept us all engaged, and was very good at what she was doing. Although the hours were long, it was well worth it. I got to meet some great people who will hopefully become friends of mine, as in the classroom itself we all got on. The great thing about the classroom experience is that you gain experience in presenting, acting as a student, job advice and more. It was also very fun!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice would be to seek your dreams and go where you want and live with no regrets! TEFL allows you to do that with great resources and salaries, so you will not have to worry about finances much.

December 14/15 classroom TEFL course in Bristol

I would recommend that every TEFL student attend one of these courses, as the practical experience in the classroom is invaluable. The course cements the course theory material. Even experienced teachers or industry type trainers would benefit from the classroom course, as teaching English the TEFL way is quite different to their type of teaching.
I would also recommend students to attend the classroom course early on in their overall course, as going through the PPP and the Planning stages will help greatly in understanding the theory.
An excellent course delivered beautifully and expertly.

What would you improve about this program?
if it were possible more classroom practical experience would be beneficial for the student.

Patrick's review for Steve

Steve's years of experience as a TEFL teacher were instantly obvious and he instantly began leading by example by using similar methods we'd use to teach foreign language students to teach us. He gave everyone equal amounts of attention, praise, and feedback, and made the class enjoyable for all involved.

The supplied materials and handouts were succinct, covering a lot of information in a short space. We didn't refer to the material a lot, which made for a more interesting class - nobody likes simply copying or reading from a book for a full weekend.
