Life-changing 3 months – I found my calling in BA!

If you’re looking for a sign to join the Teach Buenos Aires program, this is it. I just finished my three-month stint, and I can honestly say my life makes so much more sense now.Coming into this, I knew I liked the idea of education, but I didn't realize how much I would fall in love with teaching English to kids. The children in Argentina are absolutely incredible—they are so affectionate, high-energy, and genuinely excited to learn. They made every single day of the program a joy.

Here are a few highlights from my experience:

The Best Spanish Immersion: If you want to learn Spanish, there is no better way than living here learning Spanish via this program. My fluency jumped a level just by navigating daily life and chatting with locals.

Total Support: The team in Buenos Aires is super supportive. Whether it was a question about lesson planning or just finding the best empanada spot, they always had my back.

Deep Connections: I didn't just "do a program"; I made lifelong friends. Being surrounded by people who share the same passion for travel and teaching made for the most wonderful atmosphere.

I truly loved every single day. I’m leaving Argentina with a clear vision of my future in teaching and memories I’ll keep forever. ¡Gracias por todo!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
The most unfamiliar (and honestly, slightly intimidating) thing I tried was definitely Chinchulines (beef small intestines). In the States, we usually stick to the muscle meat, but at my first authentic Argentine asado, they brought out these crispy, coiled-up things as an appetizer.
Pros
  • Incredible Cultural Immersion: Unlike being a tourist, teaching local children gives you a "backstage pass" to Argentine culture.
  • Massive Boost to Your Resume: Leading a classroom in a foreign country proves you have adaptability and leadership.
  • Instant Social Safety Net: Moving to a massive city like BA can be lonely, but this program drops you into a ready-made community.
Cons
  • The "Castellano" Curveball: Argentine Spanish (Rioplatense) is beautiful but very different from the Mexican or Spanish Spanish taught in US high schools
  • Economic Volatility: Argentina’s economy is famously unpredictable.
  • High Energy Demand: Teaching kids in Argentina is not a "sit-down" job. The children are incredibly affectionate and energetic, which is amazing, but it can be physically and mentally draining.

Amazing!

If you are looking for a program that perfectly balances giving back, personal growth, and cultural immersion, I cannot recommend Teach Buenos Aires enough. My time with them was a whirlwind of learning and discovery in what is truly a tremendously wonderful city to visit and live in.

The structure of the program was exactly what I was looking for. I spent 15 hours per week teaching English, which was incredibly rewarding. It felt great to contribute to the local community and gain real teaching experience. To balance that, I also took 20 hours of Spanish lessons per week. This intensive approach meant my language skills improved faster than I ever thought possible.

One of the best parts was the living situation. I was located right in the city center, in the heart of Buenos Aires. Being so central meant I was steps away from the incredible energy of the city. Speaking of energy—the social aspect was amazing! I met so many other volunteers and students, and we quickly formed a tight-knit group. Together, we explored the city’s most interesting places, from historic cafes to hidden cultural gems.

Buenos Aires is a city that stays with you. If you think of the English teaching, the Spanish classes, and the great fun I had with my new friends, it was a life-changing experience. If you want to truly live like a local while making an impact, this is the program for you!

Best Teach Abroad Program in Argentina

Had an amazing experience teaching abroad in Buenos Aires via this program, it is well organized, professional and very supportive from start to finish. I gained real classroom experience, improved my Spanish and felt guided throughout the placement, the central location and welcoming community made it even better. Highly recommended for anyone looking to teach and grow abroad. The Spanish classes were well structured but still relaxed and the teachers were friendly and professional. You could tell they cared about your progress. The location couldn't be better, right downtown buenos aires. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for real classroom experience, loved it.
