About Program

ELI offers unpaid internships in a variety of NGOs working to promote and protect basic human rights throughout Ecuador. At least intermediate Spanish skills are required, as interns will actively participate in the day-to-day operations of these high-profile non-governmental organizations. Internships can be arranged in the dynamic capital city of Quito, in the world famous indigenous cities of Ibarra and Otavalo, or in rural communities throughout the highlands and coastal areas. Areas of focus include: indigenous peoples, refugees, women and children.

All placements are made on an individual basis. We seek to match interns' interests, skills and education with the organization that could best use them at the time of their program. Intern responsibilities are determined by the host organization and will vary depending on the individual's maturity, Spanish skills, interests and, of course, the needs of the organization.
