About Program

AFS Intercultural Programs is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. Connect with a global community of AFSers - 1 million strong.
The project is a residential family therapy group on a farm for minors who can no longer live with their parents. Currently there are three children (7-18 years old) accommodated together with a psychotherapist; the children need individual and intensive support. The residential group is offering a secure environment, reliable caregivers and constant structures to ensure the youth’s psychological stability. The main goal is to increase the children’s independence, trust and confidence so they are able to live independently in the future.

This program is currently not being promoted on Go Overseas by its provider. Check with AFS UK for the most up-to-date information regarding the status of this program.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Program Impact

The "AFS Young Workers Volunteer Programme" is a great way to gain international experience, raise employability, and develop work-related skills and knowledge through volunteering.

This 12-months program provides you with an easily accessible opportunity for effecting positive societal change through volunteering, while improving your skills and competences for personal, educational, and professional development. Non-formal and formal learning opportunities during the program will enable you to acquire essential competences for personal growth in order to become an Active Global Citizen, thereby improving your employment prospects and facilitating your transition into the labor market.

The project is looking for a young, highly motivated team member to play an active part in their organisation and to contribute to the daily work routine of the organisation.
