About Program

You will help design and execute effective teaching programs, activities and events to inspire and develop the children’s talent and abilities through human interaction and care.

You will be helping the kids to learn life-skills that parents would normally teach by getting involved in the day-to-day running of an orphanage - making sure the children are fed, washed and dressed, teaching the younger children, playing games with them and paying them personal attention - you will be making a really positive impact in their lives. Some days may see you in contact with children from abusive homes, or children sold as cheap labor. Other days may see you working on workshop material and presentations.

Whether you are helping older children with school homework, or playing a game with the younger ones, you will be an important part in their development. Any extra interests or skills that you have can be put to good use, so please let our local staff know about them when you apply.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
