Volunteer in Haiti for Community And the Environment
- Haiti
About Program
The Community and Environmental Stewardship program offers a week to remember and welcomes volunteers each season to share their skills, interest and know-how with community partners in Haiti. In 2010, Haiti was devastated by one of the worst natural disasters in modern history. Scores of lives were lost and Haiti’s resiliency was challenged. But not defeated! Haitians are more committed than ever to rebuilding their country– and this time to doing it sustainably. This new outlook is important as Haiti faces a pressing environmental problem which threatens its recovery and its long-term future. Volunteers work hand in hand with locals to implement sustainable approaches to pressing community development problem, while gaining insight that will prove life-changing well after the volunteer experience has ended. When not working volunteers get a balanced view of Haiti and enjoy local sites, culture, an electric art and music scene as well as outdoor activities.
