About Program
Venture to the vibrant waters of Bali to explore the potential of artificial reefs in preserving coral biodiversity. Accompanied by expert researchers, you will help assess if these structures can replicate the functions of natural reefs, aiding the protection of marine ecosystems and local communities.
Bali, known for its stunning volcanoes, ancient temples, and picturesque beaches, is a hotspot of marine biodiversity within the ‘coral triangle.’ Yet, its coral reefs face threats from destructive fishing, warming ocean temperatures, and pollution.
On this expedition, you’ll snorkel or scuba dive in both natural and artificial reefs, examining coral health and fish populations. Your work will help determine if artificial reefs can replicate the ecological benefits of natural ones, providing crucial data for reef conservation and supporting coastal livelihoods.
*Note: Certification is required for participation on scuba teams.
