About Program
Looking for a start in marine conservation?
Become an EMP diver with Blue Marlin Conservation.
The Ecological Monitoring Program (EMP) is a foundational course in reef ecology and survey methods.
Over the span of 8 scientific dives, you’ll learn to identify key fish families, invertebrates, and coral substrates while practicing standardized monitoring techniques such as transects, roving surveys, and site mapping.
Training also covers threat assessment, including coral bleaching, pollution, overfishing, and invasive species impacts. By the end of the course, you’ll be certified to collect reliable ecological data and contribute directly to long-term reef health research.
Open to divers 12+ with Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent), EMP is the perfect first step into marine conservation and scientific diving.
