About Program
Coral reefs are changing fast—this internship is a chance to do real field work while diving some of Nusa Penida’s most iconic sites. Join Project Laut for a hands-on Coral Reef Restoration & Marine Research Internship focused on practical conservation skills and high-quality diving.
You’ll participate in coral restoration work (fragment selection, attachment, and maintenance), sea turtle identification surveys, and REEF.org fish identification surveys—building a solid foundation in reef monitoring and marine ecology. Each week blends guided diving with structured workshops, data collection, and mentorship from our team.
Requirements: minimum Advanced certification + 40 logged dives.
Included: full dive gear, tanks/weights, and lunch on diving days.

Program Highlights
- Participate in hands-on coral restoration on Project Laut's Official Restoration site. Maintain nurseries, secure fragments, and track growth on Nusa Penida’s reefs.
- Train in REEF Fish ID survey methods. Become a registered member, and work towards leveling up as a fish surveyor. Build a Top-50 species set and submit quality-checked data that counts.
- Participate in the photo-identification of critically endangered sea turtles. Capture clean profiles, log encounters, expand the catalogue, and NAME YOUR OWN TURTLE! :)
- Your Choice of focus! Emphasize on two pillars on short stays or rotate through all three on longer programs and develop your portfolio!
- Small cohorts train together with clear roles. You will know your buddy team, rotate tasks, and get daily check ins.
