About Program

Working with an Orphanage
There are many orphanages located around the area of Nakuru, Due to high HIV infection rate 14% of the people are infected by HIV in comparison to the National rate of 7%. Volunteers are needed to help with everyday life. This may include cooking, cleaning, helping children with homework and running games activities.

Working with a Local NGO
Volunteers are need to help with writing funding proposal, developing websites, raising awareness about the work that they do, fundraising and gaining support from outside organizations

Creative and performing arts
Share your knowledge and skills in your art form at the Nakuru Players & Arts theater. This Placement is great for those who have a background Music, Dance & Drama.

General maintenance work
Some Volunteers who do not wish to have a go at teaching in the local schools may decide to have a go at some general maintenance work within the school grounds. This is likely to include gardening, painting, etc.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
