About Program
The project was established in 2013 to take care of the pre-school aged children within Diani area and its environs. Many of the parents find themselves away from the area the entire day in the search for food, water and work and are not able to afford to pay house helps to take care of their children. The daycare takes care of children whose parents have low-income jobs or are unemployed is mostly women with semi-permanent jobs using the daycare. While they go looking for work, St Michael’s Day Care Centre provides a safe place for the small children by providing meals and basic education. The project also seeks to respond to the needs of girls who have been abandoned and do not have a place to call home. The founder takes care of these girls whose age ranges from 7 to 14 years. The girls also go to nearby schools within the community to get access to basic education

CIVS facilitates short, medium and long term volunteer attachments for technical and non-technical volunteers, development personnel and students, to appropriate institutions and projects so as to enable them to offer services, learn, and gain exposure and experience in specific fields of interest.
Location: The project is located in Buruburu estate, Nairobi region of Kenya.
Nature of work: The volunteers will be involved in
• Fundraising efforts for community development projects.
• Marketing, including sourcing for new partner organizations.
Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated at a host family in Buruburu, a walking distance to the CIVS office
Food: Breakfast and dinner will be provided by the host family but the volunteers are expected to cater for the cost of lunch on their own.
Transfers: The volunteers will be picked up at the airport upon arrival as well as brought to the airport for departure.
What to bring: Sleeping bag, Pictures of your country, Food from your country, Cultural materials (e.g. flag), Toys for kids and any other items you may deem necessary.
Qualification: Volunteers are expected to be able to communicate in English. It is necessary that you should have high motivation and lots of initiative to implement the objectives of the project. You may need communication skills beyond language, so be creative.
