About Program
This teaching program places volunteers at Maisha Academy, a nonprofit primary school in Kisumu County serving 200 students, and across partner schools supported through our regional education network. Based on qualifications, background, and experience, volunteers are placed in pre-primary, lower primary, or upper primary classrooms where they support local teachers through ESL, literacy, numeracy, and enrichment instruction. Participants may also contribute to leadership development, outdoor fitness and games, technology classes, and hands-on agriculture education connected to our farm-to-table lunch program.
Our approach prioritizes collaboration with Kenyan educators and strengthens existing systems rather than replacing local staff. Beyond the classroom, volunteers gain insight into community-centered education models that integrate health, nutrition, and livelihoods.
