About Program
The Ongula Homestead Village Volunteer Program in northern Namibia offers a hands-on opportunity to support education, community development, and cultural exchange. Based at Ongula Village Homestead Lodge, volunteers work with local schools, the community centre, and the Homestead Skills & Technical Education Academy (TVET). Participants assist children and youth by teaching STEM subjects, English, and Mathematics, providing homework support, and delivering computer literacy, language, and life skills training. Volunteers also support vocational programs in hospitality, agriculture, clothing production, tour guiding, and entrepreneurship, and take part in community workshops and outreach initiatives. Bringing creativity, initiative, and practical skills, volunteers help bridge educational gaps, empower marginalized youth and indigenous communities, and contribute to sustainable local development while gaining meaningful cross-cultural experience.

Program Impact
A volunteer joining the Teaching the Youth program makes a profound impact on both the community and the individual children they support. By assisting with STEM, English, Mathematics, life skills, and vocational training, volunteers help bridge educational gaps, enhance learning opportunities, and empower youth from marginalized and indigenous communities. Their involvement strengthens local schools and TVET programs, allowing more students to access practical knowledge and skill-building experiences. Beyond academics, volunteers foster confidence, creativity, and motivation among young learners, while promoting cross-cultural understanding and awareness. Simultaneously, volunteers gain meaningful teaching experience, intercultural insights, and a deeper connection to community development, creating a mutually transformative experience that leaves lasting benefits for both the youth and the wider community.
