Cusco, Perú. English teaching

First of all, I took the HOP HOP BUS to get from Lima to Cusco, and it was the best thing to do! I traveled the south for 8 days and discovered wonderful places: Paracas, Huacachina, Nazca, Arequipa, Puno,...Cusco is much bigger than I thought. It's a great city full of colors, culture, and folklore. People are very friendly. I was volunteering 400 meters higher than Cusco, and it was quite cold up there (3800 meters). I had a wonderful time with the lovely children. Rogelio, founder of the school, was such a nice man!

The local team was very kind, available, and helpful. The Spanish courses were a big '+'.Food was delicious: being vegetarian, I was so happy to have all these incredible vegetables and fruits in so many veggie restaurants. Accommodation was nice. It would have been much better to know where I was going to teach.... it was so cold and 'dirty' (building under construction).

It was impossible to wear a dress or a skirt. My suitcase was not appropriate for teaching there.... But I survived

I loved working with the dogs.

My experience was incredibly rewarding and the time I spent there felt impactful. The dogs were very receptive to any love and attention they received, and it was made apparent that a little would go a long way.

I was able to work with individuals from all around the world and learn more about the culture in Peru. Everyone was very helpful and eager to share experiences, which made every moment worthwhile. Learning Spanish was challenging and exciting, and it was great to have the opportunity to practice the language on a daily basis.

Stray dog rehabilitation Nepal

Dog program in Kathmandu was by far the most valuable experience I could get and I did a few other volunteer jobs before. The people in Kathmandu and at Kat center are the best, they are doing such an amazing job and were really welcoming and appreciative of my work there.

But the most fulfilling was to see the dogs change and looking forward to me taking them for a walk everyday. I would have loved to stay weeks longer.. I will definitely return. So if you are a dog person, this is the job to do!

Pros
  • The local team was friendly and helpful, so kind. I did love the food! Greatest cook.
