Short-Term Volunteering Project at a Youth Rehabilitation Centre

Stowarzyszenie Jeden Świat, the Polish branch of Service Civil International SCI Poland, and Monar have been working together for 20+ years. Monar is the largest Polish NGO focused on supporting people who struggle with drug addiction, the homeless, HIV-positive people, or people with AIDS, as well as many other groups in need. It runs 30 rehabilitation centers in different parts of Poland, 5 of them specializing in youth therapy. The center in Wyszków is situated 50 km from Warsaw, by the river in a small, quiet town, among fields and forests. There are approximately 30 people residing in Wyszków, between 18-30 years of age. The patients come from different backgrounds and different parts of Poland, and they live together in the center during a one-year therapy.

The main task of volunteers is to interact and socialize with the community, by supporting them in their everyday work (gardening, cleaning, working in the kitchen, etc.) and taking an active part in leisure activities.
