Ski Junior Angloville English Camp in Poland is my second programs with Angloville. The experience is great and fun with the junior camp. This is the Angloville first ski program, at first was bit unorganised but everything all work out at the end. If this opportunity is available again next year, I will like to re-apply again. The camp is so fun with the kids, is less intensive compare with the adult program. I spent most of the time playing game with the kids during the speaking session and was fun skiing with all the Junior. (Age 13-18)

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

The traffic was really bad travel to the and back from the venue, but that is nothing we can do, I will suggest other don’t you book you flight on the same day travel back from the venue. The other thing I like to mention is the bus also pick up other participants from the Krakow as well.

As a retired HR manager I had no experience of teaching a foreign language but plenty of experience of working with people at all levels in their careers and this was a chance to use that experience in a positive way. I met a lot of keen enthusiastic Polish people and interesting volunteers from across the English speaking world. The five days on the programme is interesting, challenging and enjoyable, if you are interested in people you will enjoy the formal and informal aspects of the programme. I always add a few days after or before the programme to do the tourist bit and Wroclaw and Krakow were amazing places to visit.

What would you improve about this program?

Allow volunteers to pay the extra to have single occupancy.

My experience with Angloville has been amazing, the participants were very cooperative and the programs were well organized. Seeing how this program impacted the participants was the greatest thing to witness.

This was my first experience with Angloville, and I enjoyed it very much.

The programme was well organised and participants and volunteers were enthusiatic and motivated. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to participate again next year. The volunteers were of different ages (from their 20s to their 70s) and the participants had different levels of English (from basic to excellent knowledge); some were participating for the 3rd or 4th time, so they must get something out of it. The coordinators were also very friendly and they ensured smooth running of the programme. We were very lucky with the weather too. What else can I say - I think this all covers it, no? Besides, I think it's the quality and not the quantity of words that describe the experience.

Angloville is very disorganized. One example is problems with getting refunds after you do your trips. They made me put up three refunds because I was doing 8 weeks. I got 2 partial refunds without any problem but have never received the last one. I have been fighting with them for weeks. Their story constantly changes. First, they told me it's been scheduled. After a month with nothing, I contacted them. They said it's already been paid. Then they had the wrong amount. Then they tried to pay it again but my Paypal said the transaction expired. Nearly two months after completing my last program, I have not received my last refund and have given up hope that I ever will.
Bottom line, you should be aware that you may struggle to get your refund back!

What would you improve about this program?

Get organized. There are many issues with disorganization at Angloville. Refunds is just one of them.

Dear Steve, we are sorry to hear that your refund has not been finalized yet. We understand you are not happy with it. After double checking, we can assure you the transfer has been proceeded twice.
The first transfer has failed after 21 days as the money was not claimed. A second transfer has been done on the 03.10: it will soon be canceled if you don't accept the transaction on PayPal. Paypal requires you to claim the money: it takes 1 min, you just have to login to your account and accept the transfer. Feel free to write to info@angloville.com if you need further help :)

Angloville was an incredibly rewarding experience! I not only had to chance to spend 3 weeks in Poland for free and to practice my English teaching skills, but also meet the most amazing people from all over the world (both native English speakers and Polish participants) and live some amazing experiences in a truly beautiful country. The venues I visited were all completely different, but equally wonderful, such as a palace, a hotel in the mountains, and a resort on the edge of a lake (which we could also swim in!). Food was also very accommodating to vegan diets, whilst this varied e.g. living of potatoes and veg for lunch and dinner for one week, at other venues I was made vegan pierogi!

The kids and juniors that I had the pleasure of meeting made the trip even more worthwhile and I would highly recommend Angloville and consider volunteering again in the future.

What would you improve about this program?

The return to the city on the Saturday / travelling to other venues was rather unsafe in regards to arriving in a brand new city close to midnight.
A small contribution to the cost of Saturday night hostels would also be incredibly appreciated as this adds up and we are working for free, despite the participants paying a lot of money to attend the camp.

Angloville junior program in Krakow was a great experience for someone like me looking to gain initial experience teaching english. The students were great, staff were great, venue was great all in a relaxed atmosphere.

There was the freedom and flexibility to be yourself and design your own strategies/interactions which the students enjoyed. The vast majority of students were of good nature and were eager to engage with the program. The coordinators were very approachable and ran the program with good scheduling and cohesion.

The polish participants really valued ups killing their english and appreciated the opportunity to apply their knowledge in conversation (a strategy that they felt they lacked in their english education at school). I would highly recommend spending time in Poland.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?

We had the opportunity to see an abandoned castle outside of Warsaw that was very interesting to see, near a very old town. I appreciated the opportunity to see such a historical site and tour a local town.

Just completed my Angloville week in Warsaw, Poland and it was amazing!

Had the pleasure of meeting enthusiastic Polish participants who were eager to learn and improve their English whilst also making new friends from the Native Speaker team.

Loved the experience and definitely will be doing this again - highly recommend!

At the very beginning, it can seem quite daunting to have speak for hours a day, but when I started, the conversations were naturally flowing well and the Angloville team provided many conversation starters to aid us in keeping our sessions full.

The memories thst were made with the participants are ones to remember, you build friendships with the students very quickly and end up feeling like a part of a massive family!

I'm not a native speaker, but my English is at the advanced level. Can I still apply for this program?

Probably. I attended one session where one of the “Native Speakers” was not really a native speaker, but did have excellent English skills. You will have to check with Angloville.

Why did you choose this program?

I chose this program because it gave me the ability to stay in Poland, meet the locals, and get TEFL certified through their scholarship program. It really doesn't get any better than that: All meals were provided, great accommodations, and great people to share your time with. I definitely recommend this program to anyone seeking a meaningful experience in another country.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The program provided everything from transportation to 3 delicious meals every day and great accommodations. The only thing I had to worry about was getting to the meeting location in the major city. From there, they handled the rest. You don't need fancy clothes either. Come as you are, and teach, talk, learn.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The days are long. We wake up at 9am and teach/talk until 9pm. You get to connect with all the participants and have meaningful conversations. Come ready to talk. There aren´t any surprises. The program is well organized and brings together a great mix of people, native and foreign. After doing my first program, I wish I would have signed up for three. They have an option to sign up for more programs to get a bigger discount off of your TEFL certification. Definitely do it if you have the time.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

Wake up at 9am and talk/teach until 9pm every day for a week. You get to eat three great meals everyday (generally, local cuisine) and connect with other native speakers and participants. You can take your lessons outside or stay inside. The last night the participants have a celebration. It is a nice way to end the program. It was an incredible experience all-around.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I think the first thing I thought about was the other people, participants and native speakers. Would it be fun? Would we get along? I can say, the people who also choose to participate in this program are like-minded people. The native speakers are generally travelers too. It makes for such a great mix of people from around the world. I learned a lot not only from the Polish people but also from the other fellow teachers.

Job Title

Originally hailing from Sydney, Australia, Mitch is a coordinator of Angloville's English immersion programs and has run programs in Poland, Hungary and Romania. Mitch also works as part of Angloville's volunteer communications team, helping to answer questions from curious travelers and building relationships with organisations across the globe.

What is your favorite travel memory?

It's hard to get better than climbing Mt Kilimanjaro with an amazing group of international travelers in 2014. When you spend six days sharing everything from food to tents and stories, and all the while you're working (and walking!) toward a goal you can literally see, it makes it so rewarding when you finally get there. I'm very lucky to have a packed shortlist, and I would say working on a vineyard in Bordeaux and being in Berlin when Germany won the 2014 World Cup would also be right up there!

Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

I am baffled that Budapest, as a whole, is not a bigger tourist destination. I've had the good fortune to visit during summer and winter, and there is always something to do - whether you're there for the famous thermal springs, the nightlife and ruin bars, for a glimpse into the communist past, to go crawling through caves underneath the city, or for the incredible Sziget festival. It is just an amazing place with so much going on, and it's also supremely affordable for most budget travelers. At the other end of the spectrum it's easy for me to pick on a familiar nemesis for Aussies abroad - London. It's a fascinating city but I found it difficult to really get under its skin - it felt like a great place to live, but it was hard to get into as a traveler.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I had never done any teaching work before coming to Angloville, but now I think I've found that it really suits me and there's something really refreshing about finding ways to convey new information to people. Now I find myself constantly thinking about different ways to try and make learning interesting - whether it's using multimedia materials, physical activities, research tasks and everything in between. I've also come to appreciate that most people learn best in teams or in the company of others. I guess I had too many memories of shutting myself in a room in the days leading up to exams and trying to remember everything instead of trying to understand it. I think it's a really useful lesson to have learned, and I'm trying to use it to help improve my teaching.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

I think Angloville attracts such a diverse range of people that it is really in its own league when we talk about cultural exchange. On one hand, we help people across Central and Eastern Europe improve their English skills and confidence, and that's obviously a very worthwhile goal and we're really happy to be able to help. On the other hand, we have native speakers of English who come to us looking for ways to try and understand a country or culture in a way that is more meaningful than walking tours and major landmarks. Angloville is in a really unique position to help those travellers understand a country by meeting the people who live there, and there is a really great opportunity for people to get some really special insights into the culture and make some great friends - not just here in Europe, but from across the rest of the globe as well. It's just such a melting pot that interesting things HAVE to happen - we had one program where we had multiple students who had lived under communist rule, a South African who had been oppressed by Apartheid, someone who had lived in Croatia through the Balkan War and a bunch of wide-eyed Australians and New Zealanders. I think you'd only find that mix of experiences and personalities in one place, and Angloville is it!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

Once we had a Polish student come to one of our English programs, mostly because of his hobby - he loved flying and was training as a pilot. Seeing as English is the de facto language of international aviators, he really wanted to try and improve his language skills so he could go further abroad and continue his love affair with defying gravity. At our program we teamed him up with a Canadian guy who had worked outdoors all his life and had a bit of aviation knowledge, and they hit it off straight away. A couple of weeks later we got a photo of them on a flight together above the Polish city of Słupsk, and it was great to see! It's nice to know we help people build friendships as well as confidence and language skills.
