About Program

We have been running a non-profit organization for disadvantage children in Durban, for 18 years. There are three centres, each one is located in a township, rural area and an informal settlement (shanty town). We host volunteers from around the world so in order to raise money we offer them accommodation food and adventure trips around South Africa. We travel to the Drakensberg mountains, tour the garden route all the way to Cape Town and we go for a Safari at the Kruger National Park before stopping at the Apartheid museum in Johannesburg. Volunteers experience the joy of working with children while exploring our beautiful country, all within three months.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Thank u for the great time !

Hey everybody,
Our time in Umgababa was amazing and we enjoyed every singel day. To work with the children is so much fun. If u see them u have to love them. In the center is a lot of work to do. Teaching and entertaining the children, preparing the food, cleaning up and help where help is needed. Our work was to support the two lovely women who are working at the center. It was a great experience to work with them together.
We felt very welcome and when the work was done we always had a lot of fun. U will spend your time with Sandile on the weekends and he will show u nice places in Durban and surrounding. Our weekends were the best. We went out for dinner, went to concerts and other events. To live with Sandile is very nice and u get closer to the Zulu culture and the real african lifestyle. We also visited the other children center in Kwa Mashu and celebrated the Heritage Day together. Best day in South Africa!
If u want to come here we promise u u will have a great time. Most important things are that u can work in a team and u should be openminded for new things. Buy be aware that the life here is different.
Thank u so much for having this awesome time together. Best regards to everyone and we are pretty sure we will see u again !!!!!!

AWESOME EXPERIENCE

We enjoyed our time with Gozololo Centre. The children were great and we had a good time exploring South Africa. It was a perfect combination of giving back through volunteering and experiencing the culture, country and it's people. Sandile was great.
