About Program
This is a special opportunity to live amongst and serve a semi-rural community in Sri Lanka, as a temporary ambassador of our UK-based charity involved there. You’d be helping us in the local community to start small businesses, teach English classes in our school, and support upcoming building projects, our child sponsorship program for academic and orphanage placements, etc… you’ll be wearing many hats! You’d be living in a small village just outside Jaffna (northern Sri Lanka), supported by our long-time ambassadors living and loving life there!
As secluded as the north may seem, rest assured that frequent visits to Colombo are
necessary, giving you plenty of opportunities to explore the Cultural Triangle, the jungles, tea hills and beaches, and all the glories of nature, culture & cuisine Sri Lanka has to offer… in addition to extending Jesus’ heart to the communities we’re involved with, helping the poor, and caring for the widows and orphans— our great mandate.
Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger.
