Environment Reforestation & Education
- Tanzania
- Arusha
About Program
Help the community reforestation activities by establishing tree nurseries and planting trees as well as educating kids in school about proper environment conservation.
Tanzania like a lot of sub-Saharan Africa is experiencing the effects of climate change with irregular seasons and forest areas gradually turning into Savannah and desert grassland. Already this has had a huge impact on the variety and population of various species across a once thriving rainforest zone.
During your placement depending on the stage/time of year, you will be packing and growing seedlings, joining in tree planting, setting up seedling patches, and delivering training to local schools as well as being involved in the agriculture office's educational outreach programs to ensure communities and in particular schools are being briefed on the disadvantages and impact deforestation is having on Tanzania and the region as a whole.

Program Impact
Who Do We Help?
We are primarily focusing on helping and improving the lives of the Arusha with a population of around 535,000. The most common occupation of people is tourism, traders and Farmers which often bring the income scale. Day to day life in the remote villages can be tough with no electricity in areas, no running water however their positivity and enthusiasm for education will put a smile on anyone's face. Our main decision for basing in this area is during our first time volunteering we fell in love with the place, people and the way of life which we hope that many more people can come and experience our home away from home.
