About Program

Through this program, we introduce mental health awareness and coping strategies to primary school children in Tanzania through an engaging and culturally sensitive program. The program is carried out in public schools and incorporates, art, sports, music and storytelling to get the students to understand mental health.

Age-appropriate sessions on understanding emotions, stress management, and building resilience are accompanied by creative activities, such as storytelling, art, and games, to facilitate learning enjoyably. We encourage collaborations with local organizations to create a sustainable impact.

For volunteers, here are some benefits of volunteering with our program; An opportunity for an immersive cultural experience in Tanzania, free accommodation, learning Swahili, exploring nature around the Kilimanjaro region on weekends, an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the well-being of children and a certificate of appreciation at the end of the volunteer period.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
