About Program
This volunteer teaching placement takes place at an English-medium school serving approximately 1,300 boys and girls, from kindergarten through elementary levels (ages 4–12). Volunteers play an important role in supporting both students and teachers by assisting in daily classroom activities and helping enhance the overall learning experience.
Volunteers activities/duties at school include:
- Assist the teacher with class and homework
- Mark classwork and homework
- Provide advice on activities to enhance teaching programs
- Professional teachers are always an asset to help show teachers better ways of teaching and to enhance their learning.
- Teach computer skills to local teachers
- Teach other languages (e.g.) French and Spanish
- Exchange teacher programs with local teachers
The program runs Monday through Friday, with volunteers working approximately 4–5 hours per day, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Placement durations are flexible, ranging from 2 to 12 weeks.
