About Program

Our mission is to transform the lives of Uganda’s homeless boys in the slums and young, pregnant girls with a goal to stabilize, educate, and resettle them in one year. From the streets, our boys have a place to call home. They now have...shelter, food and medical care. Terri’s Hope House offers safety and love, a bed and bathroom, and a place to relax and laugh. They have food without digging in garbage, clothes, and medical care. A house mama oversees their daily needs. Our social worker offers trauma counseling, to help them to adjust to a new life and plan their future. The transition from street life to living in a home is difficult for the boys and requires a lot of love and patience from the staff. In every aspect of their day, the boys learn of a Savior – the Lord Jesus Christ – Who loves them and offers hope for a better life in Him. They know education is the way out of poverty – giving hope that life can improve. Volunteer with us to help the transition!

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here. Learn more about how HOPE EMPOWERS MINISTRY is promoting ethical volunteering.

Program Impact

Volunteer on the field!
Your skills and talents bring such a blessing to our kids and community. Whether you can teach, build, provide medical care, preach God’s word, or just give hugs – we would love for you to join us! Short and long term mission trips available.

Volunteer in your community!

We always need partners to tell the Hope Empowers story!

Do you enjoy social media? Perhaps have a fundraiser at your church or bible study. We need computer help! There are many projects waiting for support. Let’s talk!

Kids from the slums and poor families are delayed in their education so special classes or individual tutoring are very beneficial!

Soccer Camp Coach

Use your soccer skills for good to coach kids! Sports can be a fun and effective method to encourage and evangelize boys.

Slum Outreach

Help us bring medical care, food, and the love of Jesus to some of the poorest people on earth.
