About Program
Our Food Forest initiative extends this mission by addressing critical environmental challenges while providing hands-on education in regenerative farming. In most communities in Uganda, agriculture is not just a way of life but a critical means of survival. Volunteers support this initiative through manual labor such as planting, digging, and pruning, and - if desired - support the delivery of workshops to the local community. Volunteers with experience in sustainable farming techniques have the opportunity to contribute to further project and design planning. Volunteers who want to gain first exposure to regenerative farming are equally invited to learn from our Ugandan experts.
We provide you with accommodation, transport to your workplace, breakfast and lunch, safety gear, and 24/7 in-country support!

Program Impact
Volunteering with Tjeko doesn't only have an impact on our team but also on the local community. By bringing in volunteers from diverse backgrounds, the program enriches Tjeko's capacity to deliver high-quality recreational activities for children, fostering creativity, social development, and well-being. Volunteers contribute fresh perspectives, expertise, and resources, strengthening Tjeko's programs and expanding our reach. The presence of international volunteers also creates opportunities for cultural exchange, empowering local staff and community members through shared learning and collaboration. Local youth are exposed to new ideas and global experiences.
