About Program

Rescue Mission for Street Life is a registered Ugandan organization working in trauma-informed child protection and caregiver support. We host structured, supervised volunteer placements for individuals seeking professional experience within a locally led organization.

Placements operate within defined program environments including our Approved Transition ThriveSpace, Lifeline Medical Clinic, Skilling Station, and Kitchen Garden. Volunteers contribute through structured schedules and team collaboration alongside Ugandan staff.

This is not a drop-in volunteering opportunity. All placements require a minimum commitment of four weeks and are designed for individuals seeking meaningful engagement within established systems. Volunteers support program delivery, documentation, curriculum assistance, and operational strengthening under supervision.

Safeguarding is central to our work. Volunteers do not engage in unsupervised caregiving roles and do not replace local staff positions.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
