About Program

As an Early Childhood Learning Support Volunteer, you will support young children at Ba Nga Afayo Initiative Uganda’s community center during their most important years of development. Working alongside local early childhood facilitators, you will help create safe, playful, and engaging learning environments where children can explore, express themselves, and build early foundations for learning.

What you’ll do
• Support play-based learning, storytelling, songs, and creative activities
• Assist with early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning
• Help maintain safe, structured, and nurturing learning routines
• Work closely with local facilitators to strengthen age-appropriate learning approaches

What you’ll gain
• Hands-on experience in community-based early childhood education
• Exposure to play-based and culturally grounded learning approaches
• A deeper understanding of how early learning shapes lifelong outcomes

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
