About Program

Aloha!

www.kulaniapia.org/about

We are a community of young adults living off-grid just outside of Hilo, Hawaii. We manage an organic farm and small hospitality business, while maintaining a community of individuals to empower one another to live a more fulfilling and sustainable life. Our program focuses on helping members develop personal and professional skills that they can take with them after their stay. Skills learned range from hospitality management, organic farming using traditional Hawaiian methods, and Hawaiian language/philosophy. Community members work together on a variety of tasks, from managing our hospitality business (housekeeping, breakfast service, reception, etc.) to learning about tropical farming (seeding, planting, organic pest control, responsible harvesting, etc.).

Our program is broken into 3 categories, depending on age and experience: Apprentices, Fellows, and Stewards. Stipends are funded from program fees. See the pricing area for details.
