Each semester, we carefully review all incoming scholarship applications, and regularly have more outstanding candidates than scholarships available.
We are dedicated to making the Academy accessible to talented young leaders from all backgrounds. We also know that people from the global south and people who identify as BIPOC are underrepresented in positions of leadership and disproportionately impacted by income inequality. Therefore, our scholarships target individuals without the means to afford the Academy, with a need- and demographically-aware philosophy to ensure that we are giving access to traditionally underserved groups.
Global Citizen Year Academy is a virtual leadership experience equipping young changemakers from 80+ countries with the foundational skills and network to launch a lifetime of social impact.
Guided by expert instructors, our synchronous leadership course helps students develop a deeper understanding of their strengths, purpose, and identity and how to create a social impact pitch.
Students learn from real-world case studies, and discussions with today’s most impactful leaders (like Melinda Gates, Jay Shetty, and Shawn Mendes). Personal mentors provide one-on-one coaching for each student’s leadership journey.
At just 4 hours per week, the Academy is compatible with gap years, school, or work and adds an enriching layer of purpose, coaching, and community.
Academy students finish the 12-week semester as part of an international community, with confidence in their values and strengths, and clarity for how to connect their purpose with the change they want to see in the world.
- Build leadership skills to help solve global challenges
- Connect with young leaders from +80 countries
- Receive one-on-one support from a personal mentor
- Learn from world-class speakers like CEO of Google, the Founder of the Sunrise Movement, and leading BLM activists
