About Program

This exciting new program crosses 4 southern African stunning countries, participating as a wildlife and community volunteer along the way. You will volunteer at our unique community volunteering project that helps disadvantaged children after exploring Cape Town and the stunning coastal Garden Route – whale watching, skydiving, and surfing are just some of the adventures on offer.

Next on your epic journey, you will be volunteering with the Big 5 on a wildlife conservation gap year project before heading along South Africa’s Wild Coast and diving into an eye-opening visit to Lesotho.

The third stage of your journey awaits in a hidden gem - Mozambique! You will spend a few days snorkeling and swimming with dolphins in Ponta do Ouro, aka paradise.

For the final leg of your adventure, you will cross back into South Africa, visiting the fascinating country of Swaziland and a visit to the infamous Kruger National Park.

This program is currently not being promoted on Go Overseas by its provider. Check with Gapforce for the most up-to-date information regarding the status of this program.

8 week Adventure in South Africa

Starting in Cape Town we climbed one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Table Mountain which gave us a view of the whole city, we went on a light hearted but informative wine tasting in Stellenbosch where we got to know wine and eachother. We visited the top of lions head mountain for sunset and along the way briefly met one of the most renowned stunt men in the world. Upon leaving Cape Town we followed the scenic garden route which led to many fun nights out and adrenaline filled days with activities such as bungy jumping, great white shark cage diving, skydiving, snorkeling with seals and sharks, as well as doing cultural visits to townships. The volunteer projects at both the St.Luigis Children Center and the Kwantu Game reserve were rewarding, eye opening, fun, and informative. Sean and Richard were our leaders and both were well organized, cared for our well being, and made us feel comfortable while having a sense of adventure and a relaxed attitude for the nights we wanted to go out. I really appreciated them as leaders and I hope that they get to lead many future trips like this one. I would recommend this trip to anyone with a lust for travel and adventure with good people.

What would you improve about this program?
Possibly better response before the trip. Unfortunately the office is low staffed and so if you are trying to ask questions close to the date of departure it can be a hassle to get an answer. Otherwise I love Gap Force and this trip!

Our leader was very fiendly and always there if we needed help.
We also had a good atmophere in our group and became friends very fast.

Great Trip

I had a great time on this trip. The itinerary is great giving us a very full experience of South Africa which is a very beautiful country. The two leaders I had, Sean and Rich, were great, they were always up for a good time with us while being helpful and organised, making the trip a lot better.
Most days were filled with fun activities and I now have a lot of memories to look back on. However, we were never obligated to do every activity and we had days to relax also, making it a very balanced trip.
Would definitely recommend!

Good time? Gap Force

Probably one of the best experiences of my life, did the garden route from Cape Town.
Every part of the way was meticulously planned out, allowing maximum fun and no stress.
Not once did I feel unsafe, the leaders we had, Rich and Sean were both amazing and kind.
I would highly recommend this to anyone else thinking of travelling South Africa.

Great fun with Gapforce

I had a great time in South Africa with Gapforce. Both of my leaders, Sean and Rich, were well prepared, responsible, and overall very fun to be around while maintaining a professional attitude in regards to their responsibilities. Their efforts, along with the fun and exciting nature of the trip itself, resulted in an experience that went above and beyond my expectations. I would recommend Gapforce, specifically this South Africa trip, to any prospective traveler and would hope that they get group leaders like the ones I was fortunate to be with.

A great trip of great value organized fantastically. 9/10

South Africa Adventure

The trip was amazing and one that I will never forget.

Throughout the trip you get to see so many amazing sites such as Table Mountain and semonkong in Lesotho, as well as learning about the history and culture of these amazing country's. Throughout the trip everyone we met so so kind and welcoming it really made the trip something special.

For me the highlights of the trip was volunteering at St Luigi's in Outshoorn and at Shamwari game reserve.

What would you improve about this program?
Spending more time in Outshoorn as well as Lesotho would be incredible.

Kylie Cunninghams South Africa review

My group of four decided to hike up Table Mountain one day. It's an amazing mountain with a flat top and an even more amazing view once you're at the top. I love new adventures but I'm really not one for long hikes. Half way up I decided I was done because I felt so tired and two of the guys had gone ahead and we're almost at the top but the support and friendship of our group leader was unbelievable. Barney hikes all the time and could have done this trek in half an hour but he happily stayed back with me and walked slowly up. I have nothing but good things to say about GapForce and I can't wait for my next adventure with you guys. .
