CIEE High School Summer Abroad in Beijing, China – Building a Sustainable Mega City
- China
- Beijing
About Program
China's development – and how society addresses corresponding environmental challenges – will continue to have global impact into the next century. Beijing is a major hub for China’s national highway and railway networks, and its airport is the second busiest in the world for passenger traffic. What better place to raise awareness?
You’ll work with an environmental NGO to teach children about the problems that pollution and waste can cause in people and the environment. Help implement the group’s summer environmental education camp, and stay at an organic agriculture education center in a suburb of Beijing.
Not only will you interact with Chinese students your own age, you’ll gain firsthand knowledge of China, the Chinese people, and their culture. You’ll come away with a sense that you’ve helped expand the world view of other teens, all the while immeasurably expanding your own.
