About Program
Summer Culture: This month-long program has a little bit of everything, all on the stunningly beautiful western coast of Ireland. The program includes a variety of cultural and outdoor-recreational activities, trips to nearby towns, and room and board in a dormitory, which is just a short walk from the beach. Because there are international students from across Europe and Latin America also participating in the program, you will get a truly international experience. In addition to cultural studies and trips to nearby towns, you'll be offered a full schedule of outdoor activities to help you take advantage of the stunning surroundings.

Enjoy a variety of water sports (surfing, kayaking, canoeing), challenge yourself on a high ropes course, and hang out on the beach with friends. During your stay, you'll be introduced to members of the community and will have the chance to engage in meaningful community service work. You may be helping out at an animal shelter, patrolling the coast with the local Lifeboat and Rescue Services, or playing chess at an elderly home.
Summer global prep: This two-week program is designed for students who want to get a flavor of Ireland by immersing themselves directly into the local culture. Explore the castles, caves and cottages of Ireland’s breathtaking County Donegal. As the home of countless poets and surfing fanatics alike, the western coast has something for everyone. Through AFS, your group can experience Irish culture through outdoor adventure trips, community service work alongside local peers, and challenging and interactive workshops on contemporary topics surrounding global conflict resolution.
